Baltimore and Washington, D.C., sports-media veteran Johnny Holliday, voice of the University of Maryland's football and men's basketball teams for many years, will receive the John Steadman Lifetime Achievement Award from the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame at a Nov. 8 ceremony at Michael's 8th Avenue in Glen Burnie.

Legendary Baltimore quarterback John Unitas, who led the Colts to two world titles in 1958 and 1959 and Super Bowl V in 1971 during his 17 seasons with the team, will be inducted posthumously into the Hall, along with six others at the 53rd annual enshrinement ceremony.

Also being inducted are golf legend Carol Mann, basketball great Danny Ferry, light-welterweight boxing champion Sharmba Mitchell, thoroughbred horse racing champion jockey Mario Pino, and lacrosse goalies Jim Kappler and Michael Federico.

The inaugural ceremony was held in 1956, and the initial rule was that all Hall inductees had to be Maryland natives, but the rules were changed to include those that have lived in the state for at least 25 years.

Is Jim Rome leaving Premiere Networks for CBS Radio Sports? That's what Deadline.com is reporting.

Premiere Networks has syndicated Rome since he debuted nationally in 1996. Recently, he left ESPN and signed on with the upstart cable venture CBS Sports Network.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Rome will join the CBS Radio Sports network when it debuts in January, and the deal will also allow him to cover the NFL, NCAA basketball, the U.S. Open Tennis championships and other events.

CBS Radio Sports can be heard in Baltimore on WJZ-FM 105.7 The Fan and WJZ-AM 1300.

Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic unveiled its 44-game schedule of 2012 NCAA football games, which features weekly matchups from the Atlantic Coast Conference and

Colonial Athletic Association, as well as games from other top conferences.

The network's live coverage kicked off with Towson at Kent State on Aug. 30 via CSN Plus.

Former Redskin and longtime radio commentator Sam Huff is not happy about having his workload cut back this season. The team's radio station, ESPN 980, announced Huff would be calling only 10 games.

At the team's annual lunch with reporters in late August, Huff talked about his demotion.

"He said he doesn't understand why his work is being reduced and questioned if his honest critiques no longer play well on the radio," JP Finlay of Washingtonian.com wrote. "He even gestured toward [team and ESPN 980 owner Dan] Snyder, who sat just a few seats down from Huff on the dais, as the man with the answers for his demotion."

Comcast SportsNet named Mike Wargoas as digital media managing editor. He will direct editorial content for CSN Mid-Atlantic's Web sites, including CSNwashington.com and CSNbaltimore.com.

Wargoas comes from Fox Sports Florida, where he served as digital-content manager.

Also, CSN promoted Glendalyn Junioto to be marketing coordinator. She had served as CSN's communications assistant.

Ryan Seacrest Productions is out of the running in the bid to acquire Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by Washington Redskins and ESPN 980 owner Dan Snyder's RedZone Capital Management.

Guggenheim Partners, which owns Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter, has become the leading bidder for the firm, which produces many shows, including the Golden Globes.

D.C.'s Red Zebra sports talker WSPZ, 570 AM, and the Dan Snyder-owned firm's other sports talkers in Richmond and Norfolk, made the list of stations that will be carrying some programming from the new NBC Sports Radio Network, which launches Sept. 4. WSPZ currently carries ESPN Radio programming.
