Final Edition of ‘Baseball Night’ Earns 3.0 Overnight (Also: Previous Week’s Final Numbers)

July 9, 2012 6:48 PM 0 comments

With the Yankees and Red Sox involved, it is no surprise that the season finale of ‘Baseball Night in America’ earned solid numbers for FOX.

Regional Major League Baseball action featuring Yankees/Red Sox in 74% of markets drew a 3.0 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, up 20% from afternoon coverage featuring Yankees/Mets in week thirteen of last season (2.5).

The 3.0 overnight is the second-highest of the season for MLB on FOX, trailing only a 3.3 for coverage featuring Yankees/Mets two weeks ago.

Of the fifteen primetime, regular season Major League Baseball telecasts on FOX (dates back to 1998), Saturday’s telecast is tied as the sixth-highest rated in the metered markets.

Penultimate ‘Baseball Night’ Telecast Ties Primetime Low: One week earlier, regional action featuring Mets/Dodgers in 40% of markets drew a 1.7 final rating and 2.654 million viewers on FOX — up 21% in ratings and 23% in viewership from coverage featuring Mets/Rangers last year (1.4, 2.160M), and up 13% and 17%, respectively, from coverage featuring Mets/Nationals in 2010 (1.5, 2.265M).

The 1.7 final rating is tied as the lowest ever for primetime regular season MLB telecast on FOX.
