Brief me
The new Global Biodiversity Data Viewer (GBDV) from the Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity (KCBD) of the European Commission is an information system that provides simple means to assess, monitor and report the state of biodiversity and associated pressures.
The GBDV offers the following features:
Country profiles: key information on biodiversity and associated pressures for each country, featuring indicators and charts derived from open-source global datasets.
Custom export: personalization and download of these country profiles by selecting relevant topics, available as ready-to-use PDFs for printing or sharing.
Interactive map: exploration of a set of global reference datasets on biodiversity and pressures, including the possibility to create and share custom visualizations.
Web services and API access: a user-friendly interface to access the full range of indicators, create custom queries to explore and filter the data. Programmatic access is also available.
User support: a user guide, including video tutorials and a downloadable PDF, helps users in navigating and making the most of the platform.
By providing access to global datasets, maps, and consistent and comparable country-level indicators, the GBDV supports national reporting and contributes to monitoring the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
