Courtland Dearing reposted thisWSJ exclusive: Mastercard, Citi, Pepsi, Nissan and PwC are among the brands that won’t be returning as NYC Pride sponsors this year. There’s nuance here, as these brands aren’t abandoning the LGBTQ+ community. Some will have a paid presence in NYC via branded booths; some are sponsoring smaller Pride marches; and others have turned to private employee-only Pride celebrations. But the general pullback has intensified due to changes in the political climate, according to Gravity Research. 39% of execs in a new survey said they will reduce their Pride activities, where only 9% said the same last year. 41% said 2025 plans won’t change. The number one reason they gave? Fear of anti-DEI investigations or backlash from conservative influencers, customers and lawmakers. Economic uncertainty was another key variable. Some brands that continue to sponsor Pride events have even asked that their names and logos be removed from official signage and apparel. Fabrice C Houdart said defections may increase in coming years, when this issue no longer makes headlines and poses less of a PR risk to marketers. Link in the comments 👇

As someone who launched the earliest social commerce pilots on Facebook and Instagram, I’ve watched the evolution of content-driven commerce with a front-row seat. And while the future of TikTok remains uncertain, there’s no denying that it’s THE most powerful content-to-commerce flywheel we’ve ever seen outside of China. According to new research from Coefficient Capital + The New Consumer (link in comments): ➡️ 80% of active TikTok users are aware of TikTok Shop ➡️ Half have made a purchase ➡️ AOV is $32 (vs. $77 at Sephora and $68 at Ulta) The velocity is astonishing, as is the volatility. TikTok Shop thrives on discounting and bundling—fueling a high-volume, low-friction, high-lift, low-margin model that is already starting to decelerate. It’s a bubble waiting to burst—unless brands can balance platform-native tactics with upper-funnel storytelling and durable brand-building. With our Douglas in-store heatmapping pilot project, we are taking a significant step forward toward realizing our vision of the ideal customer experience. While E-Com has access to vast amounts of data and can track customer behavior extensively, stationary retail has traditionally focused on sell-in and sell-out metrics. Through path analytics, we can now collect valuable in-store data that allows us to make better, data-driven decisions. How does it work? Special sensors in the ceiling anonymously track where customers go, pause, interact, and engage. This data helps us understand how different areas of our stores contribute to purchase decisions, enabling us to optimize our store layout, product placement, POS marketing, and service flow to best meet our customers’ needs and preferences. Starting this April, we begin to test improvements of the customer experience in selected stores in several international markets. We eagerly anticipate the first results and look forward to scaling the project to optimize the customer journey, making beauty shopping at DOUGLAS a truly intuitive experience. The buzz around omnichannel is exactly to breakdown the silos you are speaking of, and not to build out separate teams around each channel. The retailers who present an omnichannel strategy to their investors definitely have started the transformation of breaking down ecom vs in-store teams. I've witnessed that transformation first hand. My point is, the obsession around omnichannel is exactly to focus on "how is she discovering new products, how does she choose what to buy, does she buy it, and how does she want to receive it"

I’m confused 🤔 from a retailer perspective the entire point of omnichannel is that we don’t care where the customer pays. German retail has the saying “Kanal egal”, although the numbers often show that customers who shop both have stronger KPIs and CLV. I think it’s funny to disregard Omnichannel through the exact same reason why retailers pay attention to it. Omnichannel exists as a buzzword in retail because of an indifference to where the sale took place, not an obsession with it.

The UX looks great for a first go, if I am being honest. I didn't recognize all of those retailers/marketplaces, except Etsy (but that could just be a live in Germany problem), still, I wonder how much fraud will occur through "made for AI" ecommerce websites, putting low quality, fake products above real products in discoverability because fraudulent actors are more relentless in optimization than legitimate players that are burdened by approvals, needing fleshed out strategies, and stakeholder alignment to start experimenting.
I would be worried if I was running an ecom aggregator website like idealo.de because this seems already better.

For their latest campaign, the brand brought back the iconic 1988 rollneck sweater, and in doing so, they reminded us all what good storytelling looks like. The campaign, called 'Next Rollneck Generation', features stars like Maggie Rogers, Benito Skinner, and Taylour Paige, each styling the classic sweater in a way that feels unmistakably them. Here’s why it worked: ➡️ The casting. These are real personalities, not just pretty faces. That matters in a post-AI-marketing world, where transparency and intention are being scrutinized like never before. ➡️ The styling. They let the cast be themselves. That simple shift gave the whole campaign a sense of authenticity. ➡️ The ease. It's an unfussy campaign that feels both fresh and familiar. I recently heard L.L.Bean's VP of Marketing talk about how they went about marketing the Boat & Tote for this moment, and this quote sums it up: “Not being disruptive is disruptive.” For legacy brands navigating a new era, the lesson is clear: Treat your iconic products like the cultural definers they are, and let the next generation breathe new life into them. The Paddy and Rita Dobbin Scholarship is endowed through a gift from the Dobbin family members (children and grandchildren) in memory of Paddy Dobbin and Rita Power who were married on March 17, 1929. The scholarship is open to undergraduate students of scholarship standing, enrolled in the Faculty of Business Administration in the International Bachelor of Business Administration (I.B.B.A.) program, who have been accepted for, but not yet undertaken, the study abroad component of their program. Preference will be given to students who have been active in extracurricular activities at Memorial University of Newfoundland and/or in the community. It will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards on the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.
