City Clerk John Voorde
City Clerk Voorde is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and received an MSA from Indiana University. He is a former South Bend Council Member at Large, and as City Clerk attends all special meetings of the Council and maintains all minutes for public inspection.
The City Clerk is the Clerk of the South Bend Common Council. The Clerk is elected by the voters of the entire City. The City Clerk's office is responsible for keeping City records, City ordinances, the Municipal Code Book and the City Seal.
The City Clerk, and as many staff members as he or she determines necessary, attends all regular and special meetings of the Council; and is required to keep an accurate journal of all such proceedings. Minutes of such Council meetings are maintained by the City Clerk and are available for public inspections.
The Clerk maintains various forms for matters coming before the Council, and upon request of the Council President, is to provide supportive clerical assistance. Copies of public documents on file in the Office of the City Clerk are available at a reasonable cost to the public.
