Thursday and I’ve Got Internet Access
I’ve got my internet access back at work. Glad to be back and I’ll have the links for you this morning. When you don’t have internet access, you totally feel lost. Let’s get to the links now.
It appears that the ESPN mini-series on the 1977 Yankees is getting a lot of play in New York. It was quite the summer in the Big Apple. There was the Son of Sam serial killer, a massive city-wide blackout and the Yankees getting into all types of fights. Richard Sandomir of the New York Times recaps a screening of the mini-series at the Yogi Berra Museum. In his blog, Neil Best of Newsday says the mini-series is of good quality.
CNBC’s Darren Rovell has more on Yahoo’s purchase of Rivals.com. And one thing that interests me is the rumor of MySpace getting a piece of Yahoo.

Joanne Gerstner of the Detroit News has a story on the Big Ten Network struggling to get carriage on Comcast. If the NFL Network can’t get its way with Comcast, I don’t think the Big Ten Network will either.
William Houston of the Toronto Globe and Mail has a story on the person expected to run the TV operations at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games in 2012 and on Jim Hughson who will call Toronto Blue Jays games on CBC starting this weekend.
Oklahoma City gets a 4th (!) sports radio station.
Congratulations to Duke Castiglione. He finally gets a full-time gig and becomes the weeknight sports anchor at Fox 5 in New York City. And he’s the son of Red Sox announcer Joe Castiglione. Duke’s been free-lancing in Boston and ESPN after leaving WCBS-TV a year ago.
This writer likes the condensed Detroit Tiger games on FSN Detroit.
David Whitley of the Orlando Sentinel is not a fan of the NFL Network covering the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ mini-camp.
