A Brief Introduction
The Ayyubid Wall is an extensive urban fortification constructed of stone by Salah al-Din over 800 years ago. The purpose of the project was to demonstrate the advantages of CyArk’s techniques and how they might be applied to the ongoing restoration activities of the Ayyubid Wall by the Historic Cities Programme of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
Statement of Data QualityThe Ayyubid Wall’s gate of Bab al-Barqiyya in Cairo, Egypt was Digitally Preserved as a pilot project. The project scope included the interior and exterior of the gate, as well as a 20m length of the wall in each direction from the gate. Due to the pilot nature of the project, further sections of the Ayyubid Wall were not recorded; however future data may be added to the project if it becomes available.
