Now that we have the Dana mess taken care of and we know she’s the mole, the show has ramped up, although I want someone to kick the living tar out of Rob Weiss for killing Ethan Kanin. Well, he’s not dead, but the man is suffering a heart attack and General Brucker (the great Michael Gaston who also played Gray Anderson in Jericho) tried to thwart President Taylor who refused to hand over President Hassan to the IRK. Very good episode. Here’s the promo for next week. Looks damn good too. “Tick tock, Mr. Bauer.”

I think that “Tick tock, Mr. Bauer. You’re running out of time,” was a joke put in by the writers. Had to have been. And President Logan is back? Hmmm. Is Martha far behind? Looking forward to it.

The End of 24

As one of my all-time favorite shows comes to end this season, I give you some links reacting to the announcement that came today from multiple sources via Twitter, including former Director Jon Cassar, who broke the news first. Then Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe) came out with her own Tweet to announce the end of the show which has lasted eight wonderful seasons. Only one season of the eight was under the high quality that the series had set for so long.

Let’s now bring some reaction to end of the show which premiered right after 9/11 occurred in 2001.

James Hibberd of the Hollywood Reporter says the series finale airs in May.

James also talks with Executive Producer and showrunner Howard Gordon about what’s in store for the franchise.

Lynette Rice of Entertainment Weekly talks with star Kiefer Sutherland who states that a 9th season on NBC was not an option for the show.

Brian Stelter of the New York Times says 24 represented the times we lived in.

Mike Hale of the Times writes the time has come for the show to end.

Denise Martin and Maria Elena Fernandez of the Los Angeles Times says while the cast knew the end was near, many of the crew reacted emotionally.

Michael Schneider at Variety says not only is a movie in the works, but perhaps a series spinoff.

This just in from former 24 Director Jon Cassar who is still connected to the show.

“News from the 24 set,the crew has been told that 24 has come to an end. There will b no season 9. Its been a great run, thanx all 4 watching”

So the season finale in May will also be the series finale. After 8 seasons, the crew can now concentrate on a movie franchise.

BREAKING NEWS: 24′s Last Seconds Winding Down

This breaking now, it appears that Fox and the producers of 24 have agreed that this will be the last season for one of the best shows of the last decade. Premiering after 9/11, the show mirrored the times we lived in, under terrorist threat and an entirely new world.

USA Today says the show will end in May.

Michael Schneider of Variety says escalating costs and declining ratings this season brought the show to an end. The Variety story says it appears that 24 may continue as a movie franchise which would be absolutely fine with me.

There will be more stories coming out tomorrow morning. So with Lost coming to an end and 24 closing up shop this season, two of my favorite shows are leaving the airwaves. This leaves me with The Amazing Race and Damages.
