ESPN’s John Saunders To Return To Work This Sunday
It’s been over a month and a half since we last saw John Saunders on ABC or ESPN. He has been off the air since September 10 after sustaining a concussion from a fall on the ESPN on ABC College Football set. During his time away, substitute hosts have been fulfilling his duties on ABC and ESPN for college football and The Sports Reporters, respectively.
However, John broke some news himself on Twitter on Wednesday evening, announcing that he will return to work this Sunday hosting The Sports Reporters.

ESPN had a brief explanation of what happened on its Front Row blog last month, but did not go into detail on what happened.
John’s tweet is the first time we had heard about concussion although we got a hint last week from Saunders himself on the severity of his injuries.

I’m glad to see that John is able to return and look forward to seeing him back on The Sports Reporters this Sunday morning (10:30 East/7:30 West) on ESPN2.

ESPN’s John Saunders Recovering From Fall
Long-time ESPN host John Saunders is recovering from injuries he sustained last Saturday from an accidental fall. ESPN says that Saunders is expected to make a full recovery, however, he will not be able to fulfill his weekend duties which comprise of hosting ABC’s college football on Saturdays and The Sports Reporters on ESPN on Sunday mornings. John also hosts the Sunday 7 p.m. edition of SportsCenter during NFL season.
Scott Van Pelt will fill in for John on ABC while Jeremy Schaap will host The Sports Reporters on ESPN.
John has been with ESPN since 1986, first as a SportsCenter anchor, then becoming a member of the NFL Primetime crew with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson. He was the original host of Baseball Tonight and a studio host on the NHL on ESPN throughout the 1990′s.
He became ABC college football host in the 1990′s and has remained in that position through today. We wish John well and hope he returns soon.
