One Shining Moment — 2013

After a great game between Michigan and Louisville, won by the Cardinals, we always wait for CBS’ annual version of “One Shining Moment.” This year was no disappointment. Glad that it’s available early. Normally, I’ve waited in the neighborhood of an hour to post it. Take a look at it. And of course, Kevin Ware is part of the video. Enjoy.

Thanks to college basketball for giving us a great Final Four and now we await next season which will be quite different. And if the reports are correct, this will end CBS’ 32 consecutive year streak of airing the Final Four as TBS is hoping to produce the event in 2014. But let’s celebrate the 2012-13 college basketball season and look forward to another great season starting in November.

One Shining Moment — 2012

I give credit to the great people at Gunaxin for putting this video up. It’s the annual “One Shining Moment” video aired by CBS at the end of the NCAA Championship Game. This was a very good version as you had the great moments from the NCAA Tournament with some various calls by Jim Nantz, Verne Lundquist and Marv Albert.

Nice to see this. My only complaint that it aired at 12:03 a.m., some 20 minutes after Kentucky-Kansas ended. Then again, CBS was going to milk this for all its worth plus it was a way to keep ESPN and other media outlets from running highlights until it went off the air.

Without further ado, here’s One Shining Moment for 2012. Well done by CBS and Turner Sports.

And we are done with basketball for the year. Now into baseball and NHL Stanley Cup Playoff mode for the rest of the Spring.

One Shining Moment 2011

Well, the NCAA Championship Game between Butler and UConn was a big dud, but that doesn’t take away from a great NCAA Tournament. The last game was anticlimactic, but sometimes, the game doesn’t match the hype. But we always have One Shining Moment at the end to tie up everything nicely for us. We have our Butler moments, VCU, UConn, Morehead State, Gus Johnson, Onions, Marv Albert and the hokiest Jim Nantz line at the end, but we’ve come to expect that.

I love One Shining Moment and I’m glad to have Luther Vandross’ version back after Jennifer Hudson’s version last year had a little too much Jennifer and not enough basketball. It ends another great college basketball season. Now I’m ready for the Stanley Cup playoffs which we’ll cover extensively here, but that’s for later. One Shining Moment 2010

Here is the montage done at the end of every NCAA Tournament on CBS dating back to 1987. It’s One Shining Moment and this year sung by Jennifer Hudson. I found it quite strange that CBS showed a lot of her in the montage. They didn’t do that with composer David Barrett, Luther Vandross or Teddy Pendergrass. I don’t know if Jennifer wrote appearances into the contract, but we missed out on a few scenes like Ohio’s upset of Georgetown or some vintage Gus Johnson moments. And I have no idea what was going on at the end. Overall, I’m a bit disappointed in Jennifer’s rendition. As much as I like her, I’ll have to request that CBS not use her next year if it regains the rights to the NCAA Tournament. Anyway, here’s the montage.

And just three or four scenes from tonight’s Championship Game? Usually, there are more than that. I’m quite down on this year’s version.
