Stories with a Local Accent

The North Carolina Channel, the newest addition to UNC-TV’s diverse series of broadcast channels, is our fourth over-the-air program service. The North Carolina Channel focuses on civic affairs, issues, entertainment and educational programs relevant to North Carolina.

With our long-standing commitment to producing locally-originated content, our goal for the North Carolina Channel is to serve as a showcase for North Carolina-based independent producers. By providing both cable and over-the-air services with the North Carolina Channel, we can make the channel available to more people, reaching larger audiences with homegrown content.

With the launch of this new program service, UNC-TV’s UNC-MX channel has been discontinued. Unlike UNC-MX, which was only available through certain cable providers and not over-the-air, the North Carolina Channel is accessible to virtually all viewers in North Carolina, as well as those near the border of neighboring states. Certain programs that previously aired on the UNC-MX channel will migrate to the North Carolina Channel. Please check the channel listings.

Now, along with programs on UNC-TV, UNC-KD and UNC-EX, North Carolina viewers can enjoy and engage in stories with a local accent, right here on the North Carolina Channel.

The North Carolina Channel can be viewed over-the-air on the following channels:

Asheville 33.4/25.4

Canton/Waynesville 27.4

Chapel Hill/Raleigh/Durham 4.4/25.4
