We are ONDERTUSSEN in Amsterdam: an international group of artists and creative entrepreneurs from all over the world.

It’s 2016. Europe guards its borders and protects itself against others that have definitely become “the other one”, that’s for sure. There’s no gain and all those concerned have become losers. We are Europe, civilians in neighbourhoods, villages and cities.

That’s why we at ONDERTUSSEN build in-between-spaces: in time and space. We build actual spaces that are flexible, temporary, durable and built with love. The old and new Dutchies and inhabitants of Amsterdam together. That may and shall sometimes cause friction. It might even go completely wrong and yet there is always some kind of gain, for human rights are more than just the humanitarian right to survive. The fundamental right is to be part of a community, to be able to speak and act freely in a public area. The right to mean something and to be seen and known as such. In ONDERTUSSEN we share networks, knowledge, time and talent. We become good at working across borders. This makes us winners as the reality is: there will always be people – from around the world – that want to be in the Netherlands: temporarily or for good.
