Situation:

A couple of fronts move northeast over the North Island today, as a ridge of high pressure moves up the South Island. The ridge crosses the North Island on Wednesday, followed by a showery westerly flow, with embedded front affecting the South Island. A southwesterly flow affects New Zealand on Thursday, followed by a ridge. On Friday a northwesterly flow strengthens over the South Island ahead of a front approaching from the west while a ridge covers the North Island. On Saturday the front moves northeast over the South Island while a northwesterly flow affects the North Island.

Today: Northwest 15 knots, rising to westerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots early evening, then changing to southwest 15 knots late evening. Sea becoming moderate for a time in the evening. Poor visibility in showers, clearing in the evening. Northerly swell half a metre rising to 1 metre.
