A couple of fronts move northeast over the North Island today, as a ridge of high pressure moves up the South Island. The ridge crosses the North Island on Wednesday, followed by a showery westerly flow, with embedded front affecting the South Island. A southwesterly flow affects New Zealand on Thursday, followed by a ridge. On Friday a northwesterly flow strengthens over the South Island ahead of a front approaching from the west while a ridge covers the North Island. On Saturday the front moves northeast over the South Island while a northwesterly flow affects the North Island.

For Bay of Plenty:

Today: Northwest 15 knots, rising to westerly 20 knots gusting 30 knots early evening, then changing to southwest 15 knots late evening. Sea becoming moderate for a time in the evening. Poor visibility in showers, clearing in the evening. Northerly swell half a metre rising to 1 metre.

For Bay of Plenty:

Wednesday: Southwest 15 knots, easing to westerly 10 knots in the morning, then rising to 15 knots in the afternoon. Sea slight. Fine, apart from some afternoon cloud. Northerly swell 1 metre dying out.

Thursday: Westerly 15 knots, rising to 20 knots in the morning, then easing to southwest 10 knots in the evening. Partly cloudy.

Friday: Southerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots early. Fine.

Saturday: Variable 5 knots, becoming northwest 15 knots early. Partly cloudy.
