RANAU: The Ranau District Office team emerged champions in the Volleyball, Badminton and Futsal Friendly Match between the department and the Sabah State Town and Country Planning Department (JPBW).
With the victory, the Ranau District Office team, made up of the department’s staff, took home the trophy and hamper.
The Ranau champs won the overall volleyball and futsal events, while JPBW won in badminton which held at the Ranau Sports Complex and at Ranau Extreme Futsal, Marakau.
Its Officer, Tinus Bin Manggam led the Ranau District Office, while Town and Country Planning Officer, Jelwin Jeneral led JPBW.
In his welcoming speech, Tinus said that the activity provided benefits in various aspects to all those involved.
“Apart from providing opportunities for employees to participate in recreational and sports activities, this event can also strengthen relationships among participants and between departments.
“We hold this kind of Goodwill Sports to promote healthy living among civil servants which also takes care of our mental, social and physical health.
“In addition, it can also instil a positive attitude among participants in addition to the spirit of sportsmanship and cooperation. This program can also prevent us from unhealthy practices,” he said.
Tinus congratulated everyone involved in organising this event, and hoped that similar activities could also be organised in the future with the involvement of more participants.
