Swami Mukundananda is a world-renowned teacher of Spirituality, Yoga, and Meditation. He is the founder of the yogic system called JKYog also known as Yoga for the Body, Mind, and Soul. His Guru then entrusted him with the key task of propagating the ancient knowledge of the Eternal Truth all over the world. For the last three decades, Swamiji has been traveling far and wide, awakening hundreds of thousands of seekers. He has a God-gifted ability to keep all kinds of audiences enthralled and entertained through wisdom-filled anecdotes, humorous stories, and irrefutable logic. The hallmark of his lectures is the ease with which he dispels various myths and misconceptions associated with the various paths of God-realization, and his ability to penetrate even the toughest minds and convince them with depth of understanding and scriptural veracity.

Swamiji cares deeply about imparting Hindu cultural and religious values to the younger generation, especially in the West. To aid this special effort, he has conceived a special personality development program for children and young adults called "Bal-Mukund - Playground for Vedic Wisdom" (www.bal-mukund.org). It includes character building, yoga, meditation, devotional singing, cultural exposure, and religious training. Many Bal-Mukund centers have been started for the benefit of children, both in the US and in India.

For the youth, Swamiji has started the JKYog Youth Club that offers a variety of leadership training and public speaking programs. Swamiji has also conducted programs at prestigious universities, such as Duke, MIT, Princeton, Stanford, and Yale. He has been invited to speak at various Fortune 500 companies like Google, Intel, Oracle, Verizon, Yahoo, etc.

In USA, Swamiji has inspired the formation of JKYog (www.jkyog.org) and the Radha Krishna Temple of Dallas (www.radhakrishnatemple.net). In India, Swamiji is the founder of many organizations with permanent centres and ashrams, such as JKYog India (www.jkyog.in), Radha Govind Dham (Delhi, www.rgdham.org), Radha Krishna Bhakti Mandir (Cuttack, Odisha) and many more. He has established the Jagadguru Kripalu Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital in Odisha (www.natural-cure.org), which is the largest of its kind in Eastern India. He is presently engaged in the construction of Jagadguru Kripalu University, Odisha (www.jkuniversity.in) on a 100 acre campus.

I have several copies of the Bhagavad Gita with commentary by different authors. I had attempted to read this text several times before but unable to get pass the first chapter. The commentary is either too vague or too wordy and makes it hard to grasp the messages of the verses. My husband brought home a copy of the Bhagavad Gita -The Song of God by Swami Mukundananda. I said to myself, "not another one." At first it just sat there, then one day I decided to take a peek inside to see what makes this copy different from the others. My curiosity was arose when I read the first chapter. I decided to do a side by side comparison on chapter three with two other versions. I read the same chapter from three different authors and was amazed by the difference.

The Bhagavad Gita - The Song of God was by far the most easy to read and understand. The message was very clear and precise. The author used appropriate analogies to make his point, as well as, quotes from the different scriptures to draw comparison. I also like that he used different religious text to cross reference. What I like most is that the author gave a brief explanation on different scriptures, words and the introduction to the setting at the beginning of the book. It helped me to understand the events leading up to the war and the reason for the conversation.

Of course, the 700 Sanskrit verses and the transliteration are the same in all the different copies out there but the commentary that makes the difference. I read the Bhagavad Gita - The Song of God by Swami Mukundananda from cover to cover. I also purchased an ecopy from Amazon for my Kindle. I take it to work so that I can read a few verses everyday. This is one book that you have to read more than once. I recommend this book to everyone. This is my Christmas gift for a few people this Christmas.

The first thing that struck me when I started reading this book was the simplicity of the author's style. All I could think was this is too good to be true! The author not only explains Shree Krishna's verses, but has gone through tremendous efforts to ensure the explanations are clear and easy to understand, even for someone that has little or no Vedic knowledge. This is reflected in the simplistic style of his writing that is rich with detailed explanations and many examples that one can easily relate to, making it an interesting read that is sure to keep the mind absorbed. I found myself unable to lay the book down after I begun.

He also borrows quotes from other Vedic scriptures and teachings to further elucidate and fortify his commentary, eliminating any doubts that may arise in the mind of the reader as to the objectiveness of the commentary. In all honesty, I got this book at a time when my mind was plagued with questions and I was drowned in confusion and I needed an objective viewpoint. In this age where many things and opinions are very subjective, I really appreciate the author's painstaking efforts to present the reader with an objective commentary of the Gita rather than a subjective interpretation. It terribly eased the wariness in my mind.

Shree Krishna's teachings accompanied by the rich and powerful yet simple commentary enchants the mind of the reader. I find the haziness in my mind blown away by the gentle breeze that comes with the understanding of the teachings in this book. Indeed, hats off to the author for providing such a gem. Now, I only hope the magic of the words in this book may touch and guide the lives of others as it does to me...

This book is a very handy book for all ages. The biggest asset this book creates in the mind is the back-to-the-root philosophy of Shri Krishna which seems to be lacking in them modern world that is engaging a slightly nonsensical debate between religion and atheism. However the debaters seem to forget the requirement to beyond the mythology and into the spiritual philosophy that asks fundamental questions. This book has managed to engage my mind in these questions and is taking forward strides into these questions.
