Important to know

For members in the EU, EEA, Switzerland, Canada, and Hong Kong

On November 3, 2025, we’ll start to use some data from members in these regions to train content-generating AI models that enhance your experience and better connect our members to opportunities. This may include data like details from your profile, and public content you post on LinkedIn; it does not include your private messages. We rely on legitimate interest to process your data for this purpose. You can opt out anytime in your settings if you’d prefer not to have your data used in this way. Learn more.

We’re updating our Terms of Service on November 3, 2025. We’re also making changes to how we use and share data with our “Affiliates.” See what’s new for your region and how you can control the use of your data. We encourage you to read the revised User Agreement and Privacy Policy and visit your settings to make the choices that work best for you.

Note: An “Affiliate” is a term that refers to a family of companies that are related by ownership. At LinkedIn, this means LinkedIn Ireland and LinkedIn Corp. and also our parent company, Microsoft, and its subsidiaries.

Here’s what’s changing:

  • Updates to our Global Privacy Policy. In our Privacy Policy update, we provide more clarity about our use of data from Affiliates, and for some regions, we are expanding the types of data that we share with Microsoft (a LinkedIn Affiliate) for their ad services. As explained in more detail below, members in the relevant regions will also be provided an opt-out setting.
    • Members in the US can visit our US State Regional Privacy notice for updates on targeted advertising.
    • Members in the EU, EEA, Switzerland and UK can visit our European Regional Privacy Notice for more information on our legal basis for processing data for training the content-generating AI models used in our products.
  • Updates to our User Agreement. In our updated User Agreement, we’ve made some changes to make it more readable, and to make some defined terms such as “Affiliate” more prominent. We also added details about when we won’t be able to provide you the typical prior notice about changes to these terms (i.e., because laws change or a new product is launched). We’ve also added more information about when we will use secondary payment methods you may have provided to us, clarified that deep fakes and other wrongful impersonations violate our Terms, and provided more information about how you can appeal LinkedIn decisions that impact your use of our Services. Learn more.

What’s not changing:

  • We will continue to honor all of your prior setting choices.
  • We offer you robust control over how we use your data, including for ads.
  • No settings are being removed for any members in any regions.

See updates specific to your region below.

Note: Not all features are offered globally at the same time, which may impact the settings available to you. In some regions, members may also notice changes to the names or descriptions of their ad settings for clarity, consistency, and accessibility. Learn more.

By continuing to use our Services after November 3, 2025, you are agreeing to these updated Terms of Service. If you do not agree to the new terms, you can choose to discontinue using the products and services, and close your LinkedIn account before these terms become effective.
