Paranoid25 🔕 (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • SUL (for IP: GUC))

Could another administrator please review the editing patterns and behavior of User:Paranoid25?

They have been repeatedly deleting valid statements, references, labels, aliases, and historical data; and continue to merge distinct items (deleting data in the process). This ongoing pattern is disruptive to linked items and categories and will require cleanup.

Concerns raised on their talk page have not been addressed. See: User talk:Paranoid25

Thanks for taking a look. Iamcarbon (talk) 02:30, 21 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

I reiterate that I merged pages that covered the same topic—namely, the company and the brand. In the case of Ferrari, the brand page had neither Wikipedia nor external links.
Regarding the data, I removed the old, unsourced data, and for the aliases, I simply align them with the correct nomenclature. Paranoid25 (talk) 07:08, 21 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Paranoid25 Your editing behaviors go beyond merging distinct concepts and breaking linked items, despite concerns raised. You are removing many sourced statements, references, labels, and other users’ contributions, while reverting changes that you disagree with. Wikidata thrives on diversity of contributions and a flexible data model. Removing the work of others simply to align with your own view of how the project should be structured is not constructive, and it runs counter to the collaborative principles of Wikidata.
I have raised concerns with 3 specific changes you have made recently - which all remain unaddressed. Iamcarbon (talk) 00:00, 22 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I just noticed that you created the Wikidata elements about brands, so that explains your stance... Paranoid25 (talk) 07:55, 24 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Correct. And by reverting my edits - you are breaking both my own contributions, and the contributions of others that have subsequently depending on this item (including the Wikipedia category, and ~100 relationships mapping out this models cars). Iamcarbon (talk) 19:00, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
It seems to me that you are defending your point of view only because you were the one who created the brand pages separate from the brands. Paranoid25 (talk) 08:29, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Who originally created these items - and whether they should or should not be merged - is beside the point. The real issue is that your actions are disrupting the work others have already contributed to this project and depended on these items.
When disagreements arise about structure, or about what information should be retained or removed, the standard process is to bring the matter to the wider community, gather feedback, and work toward consensus. Neither your viewpoint nor mine carries more weight than the other.
Yet when I have suggested opening this up for broader discussion, you have disregarded that feedback and continued acting unilaterally while discussions are in place.
If you believe that brands and companies should be merged (regardless of their distinctions), that labels with companies’ legal names should be deleted, that country-specific URLs and social handles should be removed, or that historical data should be discarded - then these positions should be proposed openly and agreed upon by the community, rather than imposed through individual edits. We have many forums, including the main project chat - to propose these changes - or maintain the status-quo. Iamcarbon (talk) 21:36, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Всеслав Чародей: Can you please provide some explanation on your edits? Aqurs1 (talk) 03:37, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Aqurs1, the user's complaints are unfounded. I only remove irrelevant images that don't show the object the Wikidata item is about. I already wrote this on my discussion page to the user who inserted random image files into items. For example, there's no river in this photo. Therefore, it could be placed in an object item called "Devil's Gate," but not in a river item. I removed it and as a result the participants found another image in which the river is present. Or, for example, here I changed the image of some sign to a photo of the lake itself. Here you can see sleds, dogs, rocks, man, snow - anything but not the river, while the image in the element "should be exemplary: representative, unambiguous, and high quality. Images for a single person or object should generally include only the focal subject". Всеслав Чародей (talk) 06:56, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dog_sleds_at_base_of_Sentinel_rock_on_Croker_River_(43304).jpg is an Arctic river in 1900. It's going to be frozen and snow covered for a significant part of the year. There are no nonfrozen images in the Commons:Category:Croker River. This is an outstanding and rare high-quality photo from a historic expedition. It's funny how different editors keep having "unfounded" concerns about your behaviour. Shawn à Montréal (talk) 14:36, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Even more concerning, an anonymous IP has now come along and deleted the image again, after you became aware that this AN discussion was underway. There's a strong likelihood that this was you and we're getting closer to behaviour that merits some sort of block, if indeed this is the case. Shawn à Montréal (talk) 16:06, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
If it's an expedition photo, put it in the expedition item or in the item of the rocks mentioned in the file title. Or show photo to a hundred of people and ask them what they see in it. I'm sure no one will say a river, because there's no river visible. By your logic, you could put this photo in the item of every geographic object—after all, the object is there somewhere.
Regarding the anonymous user, after Shawn à Montréal re-introduced the irrelevant file, I no longer visited that Wikidata item or looked into it. I simply disabled the photo from being shown on Ruwiki. Thus, the problem was resolved, and I didn't have to re-edit. Since the accusations are unfounded, I ask Wikidata checkusers, if there are any, to check me and confirm that I and the anonymous person are different people. And warn Shawn à Montréal that such insinuations are unacceptable. Всеслав Чародей (talk) 18:30, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Your argument regarding this photo is absurd. I can only reiterate that the removed photo is an image of the river, clearly identified. Even if it doesn't meet your arbitrary standards it meets the property requirement. You are doing more harm than good on this project with actions like this, and you continue to disregard the concerns of other editors. Shawn à Montréal (talk) 18:36, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Kattie Katey ( talk  · contribs  · logs ) has lately began to upload AI enhanced images of historical satellite pictures of tropical cyclones or even creating some on Commons. Paranoid25 🔕 (talk • contribs • deleted contribs • logs • filter log • block user • block log • SUL (for IP: GUC))

Despite multiple attempts to engage, this user has ignored all feedback and continues to merge distinct items, revert valid edits, remove valid labels and statements, and impose their own view of how the project should be structured. These actions are disrupting linked items across the project and introducing conflations.

All feedback and concerns raised to date have been disregarded.

Could another administrator please review this situation, as it is causing ongoing disruption to the project. Iamcarbon (talk) 19:09, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

A bit more context on this matter: the user has been actively cleaning up car company items, adding and removing data. While many of their edits are constructive (and appreciated), they have also been deleting valid labels and aliases, valuable historical data, cited statements, and merging related (but distinct) items.
Of particular concern is their practice of merging all brands into their manufacturers. This disrupts ongoing work to consistently model brand relationships across car models in Wikidata. Brands have their own freebase identifiers, frequently change ownership, and preserving them as distinct entities is essential for accurate, durable modeling. By collapsing brands into manufacturers, the user is breaking the brand associations that other contributors (including myself) have carefully built and fixed, as well as severing links to Wikimedia Commons.
They continue to unilaterally impose their own view of how the project should be organized and labeled, repeatedly reverting any edits that do not align with their perspective. More concerning is that they do so without addressing feedback or seeking consensus from the community before making further disruptive changes. Iamcarbon (talk) 20:06, 25 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
One more quick update on this case: the user is also actively engaged in an edit war, reverting any attempts to undo their controversial edits (including the removal of valid statements, labels, and merging of distinct concepts). They are also reverting newly added contributions they disagree with, while continuing to ignore feedback on their talk page. Iamcarbon (talk) 22:57, 27 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I asked them to engage with this discussion before continuing their controversial editing. They have not edited since. Bovlb (talk) 21:35, 29 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Kind thanks @Bovlb.
I’ll start work restoring lost contributions and undoing recent conflations that disrupted linked items. Hopefully these fixes won’t be reverted again and this user be much more careful when deleting statements (discarding valuable contributions), merging non-identical items (breaking linked items), and deleting and modifying labels (reducing item discoverability). Request for undeletion: Q130301995

[edit]

Hello administrators,

I would like to request the **undeletion of item Q130301995**, which was previously deleted with the reason *"Author request"* because the original creator stated they created the item in error and were not the subject.

I am the actual subject of this item, and I would like to recreate it properly with reliable sources and verifiable statements. I have already contacted admin User:Wolverène (see discussion: User talk:Wolverène#Request for undeletion: Q130301995) who reviewed my request and said:

> *"I will not mind if the item will be restored but I am just not sure I am going to restore it right now, I still have a little doubt. I recommend you to start/duplicate the request for undeletion at Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard. I would like to be sure that another admins are also agree that the subject of Q130301995 is notable."*

As suggested, I am now bringing this request here for wider administrator review.

Evidence of Notability (WD:N)

[edit]

This item meets **criterion 2 (presence of reliable sources)** thanks to significant coverage in independent, reliable publications. Here are examples:

  • **Independent coverage in major media outlets**
 * [Reuters – "The internet is dead in Iran: Protests targeted by shutdown"](https://www.reuters.com/article/technology/feature-the-internet-is-dead-in-iran-protests-targeted-by-shutdown-idUSL8N2ZM0AS/) — mentions Saeed Souzangar, who runs a technology company in Tehran.

 * [Reuters – "Twitter sleuths and disaster mappers look for a backup plan"](https://www.reuters.com/article/tech-disaster/twitter-idUSL8N32D0DC/) — identifies Saeed Souzangar as CEO of a technology firm in Tehran.
 * [Washington Post – "How a viral song became the unofficial anthem of Iran’s protests"](https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/10/04/iran-protests-song-shervin-hajipour-arrested/) — includes Saeed Souzangar’s commentary on digital rights.
 * [Wall Street Journal – "Iranian Protesters Struggle to Activate Elon Musk's Starlink"](https://www.wsj.com/articles/iranian-protesters-struggle-to-activate-starlink-and-circumvent-internet-restrictions-11664798819) — explicitly quotes Saeed Souzangar on efforts to bypass internet censorship.

Plan for Properly Populating the Item

[edit]

If undeleted, I will immediately add well-sourced claims including:

  • **Occupation (P106):** network security instructor, entrepreneur, podcaster, digital rights activist
  • **Country of citizenship (P27):** Iran
  • **Official website (P856):** [2](https://souzangar.com)
  • **Image (P18):** properly licensed portrait image already uploaded to Wikimedia Commons
  • **References:** All of the above articles will be used as inline references for relevant statements

I respectfully request that the item be restored so I can populate it properly in line with WD:N.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Souzangar (talk) 12:10, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

As far as I'm concerned, it's spam. But what would get deleted as spam on any other WMF project often gets tolerated here. I personally see no reason to undelete this, but if an admin more active on this project wants to overrule me, I won't contest that either. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 17:31, 26 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Looks borderline/marginal. Fortunately to the proposer, there are some reputable sources that briefly mention Saeed Souzangar. As I said to them on my talk page, self-citing: "I admit that the item may meet the criterion 2 ("presence of reliable sources") thanks to the links you have provided here -- those are just short mentions but WD:N does not require a detailed coverage in sources, so the links may be O.K.". However, my problem is that I guess that the proposer's very agenda is to make the subject more 'visible' to the search engines (nothing new), and I am not sure I would be happy to help them with the undeletion, if that is actually the only thing they need. There is no other activity by the user whose username is the same as the surname of the item's subject. Nothing more to say. --Wolverène (talk) 00:30, 27 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello administrators,
Thank you both for reviewing this request and sharing your concerns. I would like to clarify that my intention is not promotional or search engine optimization. My goal is to accurately document the public record about a person who is mentioned in multiple international, reliable sources and whose work (cybersecurity education, digital rights advocacy, and technology initiatives) has been covered in news reports.
I fully understand Wikidata is not a platform for self-promotion, and I am committed to following WD:N strictly. The references I have provided are not self-published: they are from Reuters, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, BBC Persian, and The Guardian. These cover Saeed Souzangar’s public activities in cybersecurity awareness and internet freedom campaigns — topics of global relevance.
Once undeleted, I will carefully add:
Clear statements (occupation, country of citizenship, notable work, etc.)
References for each claim (using the cited news sources)
No promotional language — only verifiable facts
This is for the sake of an accurate knowledge graph and linking to related items (e.g. Internet shutdowns in Iran, Mahsa Amini protests, Starlink access efforts), which benefits researchers and historians.
I hope this clarifies the intent and addresses the concerns about visibility. I kindly request reconsideration for undeletion so the item can be restored with proper sourcing and neutral tone.
Thank you very much for your time Souzangar (talk) 04:18, 27 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I didn't tag you correctly in the text of my reply.
@The Squirrel Conspiracy@Wolverène

Thank you very much for your thoughtful feedback and for taking the time to review this case. I would like to clarify a few additional points that might help address your concerns:

1. I have collected not only the English-language sources already listed above (Reuters, WSJ, Washington Post, etc.) but also more than 50 independent and reliable articles in Persian and Arabic from well-known media outlets. I am ready to add these references immediately once the item is restored, to ensure that the entry is well-sourced and verifiable. like this: https://www.rfi.fr/fr/moyen-orient/20240910-telegram-un-cyberactiviste-en-iran-lutte-contre-la-p%C3%A9dopornographie

2. Regarding the username–item name match: yes, I am the subject of this item. In the spirit of transparency, I would like to disclose this potential conflict of interest (COI). COI disclosure: I am the subject of the item (Saeed Souzangar). My only goal is to ensure that verifiable and neutral information is recorded about me, supported by independent sources. This is not for promotional purposes, and I am committed to complying with all Wikidata policies.

3. After the item was deleted, I carefully read the relevant Wikidata policies on notability, COI, and undeletions. I now fully understand that the initial deletion happened because (a) another user originally requested deletion stating they created the item in error, and (b) when I recreated the item later, I failed to provide sufficient sources. I understand why this may have created doubts. I hope that the presence of significant, independent coverage and my commitment to follow all policies will allow you to reconsider and restore the item so I can add all sources and populate the claims properly.

Thank you again for your time and consideration. I remain ready to improve the item according to Wikidata’s standards as soon as it is undeleted.

Request for undeletion of Q134987443 (Nika Bolzan)

[edit]

Dear administrators,

I respectfully request the undeletion of the item Q134987443 about Nika Andreyevna Bolzan. The first deletion was motivated by concerns about self-promotion and insufficient independent sources. Since then, I have collected a set of reliable, independent sources that demonstrate her notability as a psychologist and researcher.

Publications in peer-reviewed journals recognized by the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) and indexed in Scopus/WoS

[edit]

Media coverage and profile in PsyJournals (peer-reviewed, VAK-recognized platform)

[edit]

Professional recognition and media presence

[edit]

Other notable activities

[edit]
  • Co-author of the book Lifehacks of Zen Parents: Caring for a Newborn.
  • Speaker at the conference Motherhood and Childhood — 2018.
  • Winner of the international scientific olympiad Psychology Without Borders — 2021.
  • Author of educational courses and the mobile app Happy Pregnancy, with over 4.6 million views on YouTube.

Conclusion

[edit]

Based on these sources, I believe that the concerns raised during the first deletion have been fully addressed. Nika Bolzan has peer-reviewed publications (including VAK-recognized and Scopus-indexed journals), recognition in mainstream media, academic activity, and educational contributions. These sources clearly demonstrate that Nika Bolzan meets Wikidata’s notability criteria as an academic and public expert.

Help with VRT

[edit]

Since I've slipped into inactivity, I lost my flag as an admin, but I'm still - as far as I know - the only VRT member from Wikidata. I need help, also to avoid to be the single point of failure, and because sometimes being an admin is a plus when dealing with VRT.

The Wikidata queue on VRT is relatively calm, there's only a mail every now and then, and most of the time is uncontroversial stuff. I just need to know that there is someone who is also an admin that can take care of the queue with me -- given that a VRT operator cannot fully disclose content of tickets outside the VRT perimeter.

If someone is interested, please apply to become a VRT member or request access to the Wikidata queue. If you have questions, let me know, I'll try to answer. Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 18:36, 2 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I can in principle do this, but I do not have a VRT access. I guess I should apply centrally? Ymblanter (talk) 18:52, 2 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
