Wikibooks:Temporary account IP viewer

The temporary account IP viewer user group allows non-administrators to view IP addresses used by temporary accounts. Administrators can automatically see temporary account IP addresses.
This permission can be requested at Wikibooks:Requests for permissions for accounts that are at least 6 months old and have at least 300 edits on the project. If this requirement is not met, access may still be requested, but the request is unlikely to be granted as only stewards can authorise an exception.
The right
[edit source]Temporary account IP viewers have the following rights enabled on their accounts:
- Access a full view of the IP information attached to revisions or log entries (
ipinfo-view-full
) - Retrieve information about IP addresses attached to revisions or log entries (
ipinfo
) - View IP addresses used by temporary accounts (
checkuser-temporary-account
)
Groups that do not need the right
[edit source]The following user groups below do not need to request the temporary account IP viewer permission:
- Administrators, bureaucrats, CheckUsers, and suppressors can already see IP addresses used by temporary accounts.
- Global user groups such as abuse filter helpers and maintainers, global rollbackers, global temporary account IP viewers, ombuds, staff, stewards, and U4C members can view temporary account IP information on all wikis, and by extension the English Wikibooks; thus, they do not need to request the right here.
Criteria for use
[edit source]Usage of this tool must follow the Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy, and each use of the tool is logged.
Criteria for revocation
[edit source]Administrators are permitted to remove the permission upon misuse of the right, which includes the disclosure of IP addresses in violation of the Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
