Gallipoli Diary

The following is an abridged version of the Gallipoli Diary from Major Fred Waite DSO, The New Zealanders at Gallipoli (1919), which was the standard account for over 60 years. It continues to provide a useful chronology and indeed was republished in Christopher Pugsley's definitive history Gallipoli: The New Zealand Story (1984).

In Egypt, the NZ Infantry Brigade, NZ Mounted Rifles and NZ Artillery Brigade join with the 1st Australian Light Horse Brigade and the 4th Australian Infantry Brigade to form the New Zealand and Australian Division under the command of Major General Sir Alexander Godley (GOC of the NZ Expeditionary Force).
