About Us

A Tradition of ExcellenceAlfiero Center

Since 1923, the School of Management has built an impressive reputation as one of the best schools of business in the world. The comprehensive range of our academic portfolio, the expertise of our faculty and the worldwide success of our graduates are the primary reasons for the school’s acclaim.

A Global Presence

Today the educational reputation of the School of Management literally spans the globe, and students at the school hail from all over the world. In any given class, a visitor to the school may find students from Buffalo or New York City sitting beside students from Asia or Germany, as they listen to a professor who recently returned from teaching top executives in Singapore.

In an increasingly global business environment, the diversity of our programs and our international reputation help ensure that the School of Management degree is a credential that opens doors for our graduates at any business anywhere in the world.

Diverse Programs

The expertise of our faculty is most valuable to students pursuing an education at the MBA level. Considered the school’s flagship curriculum, our nationally ranked full-time MBA program has been preparing students for leadership positions in management for more than 80 years.

Top executives from Western New York’s leading corporations benefit from the school’s MBA programming too, through enrollment in our dynamic Executive MBA program. Since its establishment in 1994, more than 300 business leaders have graduated from this intensive 22-month program, designed for the area’s most talented and experienced executives.

Those interested in an evening MBA program can enroll in our Professional MBA program--the most prestigious and least expensive part-time MBA in Western New York. The three-year program is designed for business people who possess at least one year of professional work experience.

Internationally, we offer an Executive MBA program in Singapore in collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Management, and another Executive MBA program in Beijing, in cooperation with Motorola University. In 2007 the we created a new master's degree program in IT-enabled services, in partnership with Amrita University and Hewlett Packard in Bangalore and Chennai, India.

At the undergraduate level, more than 3,200 students enroll annually in our nationally regarded programs in business administration and accounting. Many of these students benefit from an internship program that is considered to be one of the best and largest in the country.

Our PhD program, with nearly 50 students, is the premier PhD program in the SUNY system and recruits students worldwide. Graduates accept positions at major universities throughout the U.S. and at leading consulting and research firms.

In addition to credit-bearing programs, we also provide innovative education and professional development programs for executives, professionals and organizations through our Center for Executive Development (CED). The CED offers a host of non-credit-bearing trainings customized for companies and individuals. Such offerings include instruction in leadership, supervisory skills, marketing, lean manufacturing, project management and many others. Programs can generally be tailored to fit the training needs of any organization. A wide and diverse array of organizations participate in CED training on an annual basis. The CED also oversees the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, which was created in 1987 to enhance the entrepreneurial talents of creators and managers of businesses and improve their prospects for growth.
