Motorola Xoom & Gorilla Glass - Does it have it?

There has been numerous curiousity and speculation as to if the XOOM actually has Gorilla Glass or not. I remember the original Moto Xoom site having details about it, and then it was taken down. Can someone confirm if Gorilla Glass is on the XOOM or not?

it seems that there's mixed info about it. My guess is that it does but that there's a licensing fee to advertise that it has it.

And its interesting to note that in this industry article about a competitor there is a listing of current devices that have Gorilla Glass. The xoom is absent from the list. the article was written Jan 20, 2011 and since thats after the press release you would expect it to be listed, but before public launch so maybe the reporter didnt have the info or hadnt been able to verify it.

Also, interesting note, it mentions that Corning developed Gorilla Glass in 1962.

It would be great if someone from Motorola could jump in here and provide an answer. Whether or not the Xoom has Gorilla Glass is probably influencing some decisions about screen protectors.

Hmm, good to know. Just goes to show you that the VZ reps at the store just want to make a buck. I had a rep tell me that "it was never covered as a selling point in their training for the Xoom and something as big as that would be mentioned". Looks like im taking the screen protectors back, even the used one, and getting my money back. Thanks Matt!!!

I wouldn't be hard on the Verizon reps. I'm sure it wasn't covered and it isn't in the specs. I had to ask myself to be sure.

we could have a whole thread about verizon reps.... i've mainly stopped going in for anything. i call and ask to be escalated to tech support first thing.

I'm not hammering on them at all - I used to be one for 6 years and was on a team that launched CDMA. I have to say, I have yet to talk to a rep from accross the ocean. Thats a big deal for me.

Off topic slightly, but, does the first droid also have this then? The web site mentioned previously says so, but the droid, and droid 2 are commonly spoken of as the same thing.
