Axl Rose, hobbled by a broken foot, performed last night’s Guns N’ Roses show in Dave Grohl’s throne

Pearl Jam's 10 Best Deep Cuts

December 21, 2022

It’s been a week for Guns N’ Roses.

Last Friday, Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan reunited for the first time in 23 years at Los Angeles’ The Troubador, where they dusted off an assembly of greatest hits, covers, and selections from the Slash- and Duff-less 2008 album, Chinese Democracy.

A week later, however, Axl went ahead and broke a bone in his foot, requiring a surgical procedure to insert a plate and screws. He’s currently in a cast and cannot put any weight on his foot.

Fortunately for Axl, Dave Grohl hadn’t yet trashed the throne he designed and built after breaking his own leg on tour last year. For last night’s gig in Las Vegas, the first proper date of GNR’s Not In This Lifetime tour, Axl spent a majority of the time seated in Grohl’s throne, rocking the fuck out.

As for the rest of the show, there were a number of surprises that all bode well for the upcoming jaunt. For one, it’s quite clear by now that Slash and Duff have zero problem playing material off Chinese Democracy, considering they once again played the title track and “Better” in addition to “This I Love”,

What’s more, the band seems willing to try out some older deep cuts. A few surprises included selections off Use Your Illusion I & II, specifically “Double Talkin’ Jive”, “Estranged”, “Civil War”, and the first performance of “Coma” since 1993.

Below, stream a few videos, peruse the setlist, and figure out where you’ll finally see them this summer.

    Setlist:
