Citizen TV is a Kenyan free-to-air television channel owned by Royal Media Services.[1] It broadcasts primarily in English and Swahili. The channel was launched in 1999 and relaunched in June 2006. Royal Media Services also owns other TV channels, such as Inooro TV( kikuyu -language ) and Ramogi TV (luo-language). Citizen TV is available on multiple platforms including DStv, GOtv, Zuku, StarTimes, Azam TV, and digital terrestrial television (DTT) networks.

History
[edit]On 22 July 2018, Citizen TV unveiled their new television studio and star news anchors. These included Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla, the first married couple to present the news on Kenyan television.[5] The station also launched an affiliate Ramogi TV in 2021.[6][7][8]

Community Impact and Civic Engagement
[edit]Citizen TV shares news and programs that help people in Kenya learn about public issues and events. The station has aired programs and documentaries on topics including mental health, gender-based violence, youth issues, and environmental concerns amongst many others. The station has also broadcast election-related programs, including live debates, vote counting updates, and segments that explain the voting process. The station airs local dramas and entertainment shows that feature Kenyan languages, customs, and everyday experiences enabling viewers to interact with the station through social media, music requests, and public polls, which are sometimes used to guide programming being made able.
