Rafa Yeasmin

Rafa Yeasmin (born 16 February 2009) is an Indian playback singer and songwriter from Malda, West Bengal. She gained national recognition as a finalist in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs (2022–23) on Zee TV, where she finished in sixth place.[1][2][3] She has also appeared in other television singing competitions, including Taare Zameen Par (2020) on Star Plus and Super Singer Junior (2019) on Star Jalsha.[1][2][3]

In 2024, Yeasmin received international recognition with a nomination at the 4th World Meet in Bangkok, Thailand.[4] She was also appointed as the Cyber Brand Ambassador of Malda District Police.

Early life

Rafa Yeasmin was born on 16 February 2009 in Malda, West Bengal, India, to Tania Yeasmin and Rajjak Hossain.[1]

From a young age, she demonstrated an interest in singing and would often attempt to replicate melodies from television songs.

Her parents encouraged her to pursue formal music training. She began learning music at the age of two and a half under Khama Kumar and Krish Dot in Malda. After participating in Super Singer Junior, she continued her training in Kolkata under Trisha Parui, and later, following her appearance on Taare Zameen Par, she moved to Mumbai to study under Dhananjay Bhatt. She is also enrolled at the Shankar Mahadevan Academy.

Yeasmin completed her early education at Sabuj Abujh Shishu Angan (up to class 10) and currently attends Barlow Girls’ High School.[1][2] She has received awards and honors from schools, colleges, clubs, and government institutions in recognition of her singing, and has achieved top positions in various competitions since childhood.

2012–2017

Rafa Yeasmin began learning and performing music at the age of two and a half. During this period, she participated in various singing competitions and received awards from schools, colleges, clubs, and government institutions.

2018–2019

Yeasmin gained national attention after winning multiple awards and gold medals from the Sarba Bharatiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad. In 2018, she received gold medals in singing, recitation, and art. In 2019, she won gold medals in Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, and classical music. Her Rabindra Sangeet gold medal was awarded at Rabindranath Tagore’s Jorasanko Thakur Bari, where she performed the song “Amar Hiyar Majhe”.

2019

Yeasmin made her television debut in 2019 with Star Jalsha’s Super Singer Junior, reaching the Top 5.[1][2][3] During the show, she performed the song “E Tumi Kemon Tumi” with Rupankar Bagchi and received recognition from the judges. After this performance, she received a guitar signed by the judges and several celebrity singers who appeared on the show.[1][2][3]

2020–2021

In 2020, she appeared on Star Plus’s Taare Zameen Par, reaching the Top 7.[1][2][3] During the show, she performed a duet with Shankar Mahadevan and was awarded a scholarship to continue her training at the Shankar Mahadevan Academy.

2022–2023

Yeasmin participated in Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs (2022) and finished as a finalist, securing 6th place.[1][2][3] She won a gold medal in the audition round, performing “Senorita” from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.[1] During the show, she performed with judges and singers including Shankar Mahadevan, Neeti Mohan, Anu Malik, Rupali Jagga, and Rishab Chaturvedi.

2023–present

Since 2023, following her appearance on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs, Yeasmin has gained widespread recognition for her live performances, performing at multiple venues and reaching a larger audience through social media coverage.

On 16 January 2024, she performed at a live concert at Sripat Singh College. On the same day, she visited the residence of Arijit Singh, who praised her singing.[5][6]

She has since focused on producing and releasing original songs, including "Eid Mubarak", "Joy Dugga Ma", and "Kalar Banshi", collaborating with lyricists and composers such as Priyo Chatterjee, Pradip Sarkar, and Amit Sur.

In June 2025, her cover of R.D. Burman’s song “Mehbooba Mehbooba” gained significant popularity on Instagram, leading to increased recognition of her work on social media.

On 29 September 2025, Yeasmin was appointed as the Cyber Crime Brand Ambassador by the Malda District Police.

Since a young age, Rafa Yeasmin has performed at live concerts across various venues. Following her appearance on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs, the number and scale of her live performances increased. From 2023 onwards, she has performed extensively, showcasing versatility in singing and stage presentation. In 2025, she began The FireFest Tour, performing at multiple locations and engaging with audiences through these shows.
