Mynagappally is a village in Kollam district in the Indian state of Kerala.[1]

As of 2001 India census, Mynagappally[2] had a population of 39,336 with 19,207 males and 20,129 females.[1]

Mynagappally is located in Kunnathur Taluk of Kollam district, Kerala. Its location is 7 km east of Karunagappally and 6 km west of Sasthamcotta.

Demographics

According to the 2011 Census, **Mynagappally** has a total population of **41,027**, of which **19,494 are males** and **21,533 are females**.[3] The village has **10,254 households** as per Census records.[4]

Transport

Sasthamkotta railway station lies within the limits of Mynagappally, providing rail connectivity to nearby towns and villages.[5] The road connecting **Karunagappally** and **Kottarakkara** passes through this village, making it accessible by bus services.

Economy

Mynagappally has several traditional small-scale industries including **cashew processing**, **brick and tile manufacturing**, **coir production**, and **matchbox factories**.[6] The village also has four major marketplaces serving local commerce.[7]

History & Heritage

The Mynagappally panchayat was established in **1953**.[8] Its name is believed to derive from local mythological associations, specifically from **Mount Mainaka**, which is said to have rested here in the epic lore.[9] Geographically, Mynagappally shares boundaries with Thevalakkara (south), Sooranad (north), Sasthamkotta (east) and Thodiyoor (west).[10]
