Murex Hill: why here?

[edit]
"To the south of the citadel is a mound of debris called Murex Hill."

Is it PART of the mound/hill supporting the acropolis-turned-castle, or is it detached from it? If the latter is true: why is it here?

If indeed not directly connected, it should be detached as a separate article, provided there is enough to say about it. If there is not enough material, the red link already present in at least 2 places should become a redirect to the Murex Hill section of whatever article we decide should host the topic: this one (why, how close?), Sidon, Tyrian purple...
