Elite Beat Agents Info

I'm the one who added the section about the song's appearance in Elite Beat Agents, and I was wondering... is it a bad idea for that single part of the article to make up the majority or the entire thing? The only reason I made it so large was that I thought it was worth noting how comical the plot was. Does anyone have any different views on this? (this unsigned comment was made by User:Aliento)

Roving Drums

In any recording I get of this song, the drums and piano switch left and right channels often through the duration of the song. I don't know if im the only person who noticed this, but does anyone have a recording where the two instruments don't flip? Arc88

Why September 21st?

December Version

There is a later version of the song which is called December instead of September. Seems to be released in 2014, but I think it needs more investigation.

F# minor?

The song is in A Major, with the cadence repeatedly avoided by turning the tonic chord into an A sus13. We can cite this YouTube video as a source, if we need one, but come on, how is Bm7-E7-C#m7-F#m7-Bm7-E7-C#m7-F#m7-Bm7-E7-C#m7-F#m7-A sus13 to enable going back to DM7 F# minor? I could see B minor, with the A sus13 as a bVII7 substitute, but F# minor?? But ask yourself, if the A chord were turned into a major triad, would you feel like the progression was resolved? I would. Of course the song wouldn't be nearly as cool and special if they had made that change, but functional harmony is all about setting expectations, whether they are fulfilled or not, and this song definitely has functional harmony. September (Earth, Wind & Fire song) → September (song) – WP:PTOPIC. Of the songs listed in the disambiguation, the only other notable entries are "September" (Daughtry song) and "September Song". The former has garnered 3k pageviews this year and 49k since 2016, while the latter has gotten 32k this year and nearly half a million since 2016. Comparatively, the Earth, Wind & Fire song has amassed 139k this year and 2.6 million since 2016. This overwhelmingly surpasses the Daughtry song by a 50:1 ratio for both timeframes, though is only 5:1 for the musical standard. However, the song is not directly titled "September", and would thus not conflict with the Earth, Wind & Fire song. Can you please explain how WP:PDAB supports your position? By my reading, it seems to state that partially disambiguated article titles are allowed, and although it requires a higher threshold to apply, most of the song examples listed there are lower than the 50:1 ratio here. As noted in the OP, September Song, while not an exact title match, can be considered ambiguous; it also gets 100+ daily pageviews. WP:PDAB should be reserved for slam-dunk cases (such as Thriller (song)); in cases such as this one, we gain nothing by intentionally introducing ambiguity. 162 etc. (talk) 21:11, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Support per WP:PDAB and WP:INCDAB. "In individual cases consensus may determine that a parenthetically disambiguated title that is still ambiguous has a primary topic, but the threshold for identifying a primary topic for such titles is higher than for a title without parenthetical disambiguation." Whatever that threshold is, it is very clearly met here; the Earth, Wind & Fire song is an order of magnitude more sought after and a crystal clear primary topic over the Daughtry song. Support. Comfortably meets even the high standard for PDABs. "September Song" is a different enough title that I don't think we need to worry about its pageviews, but I wouldn't be opposed to a hatnote if there's consensus for that. Finally, as Chicdat and others have mentioned, I encourage the closer to discount any !votes that are hinged solely on blanket opposition to the PDAB guideline.
