Agent 007 (talk) 05:33, 27 September 2025 (UTC)Draft: Elisa Turner
[edit]You recently declined my article for submission, Draft: Elisa Turner and I responded to your comments on my Talk page but have not received a reply. There are several independent secondary resources cited in support of the subject's notability. Turner's awards for art criticism are listed in the Awards and Recognition section and cited in References with the following sources: Miami Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs; Oolite Arts; Association of International Art Critics and Hamptons Art Hub and the Miami Herald. Each of these published articles recognize the various merit awards Turner has received for her profession. Additionally her contributions as a public intellectual and art critic in Miami have been written about in the Foreword of the cited publication Miami’s Art Boom: From Local Vision to International Presence. University Press of Florida. There are 2 interviews cited that recognize the subject's notability published by: Florida International University, Lee Caplan School of Journailism and Media and National Public Radio. These cited sources meet the Wikipedia guidelines on notable people, as outlined below:
Before drafting this article I referred to the criteria listed on the Notability (People) project page. Below you will find a summary of compliance with the Biography guidelines: 1. Biography introduction includes: "Elisa Turner is an award-winning art critic and journalist with a focus on international contemporary visual arts." The reliable secondary source cited in References is the University Press of Florida, book publication "Miami's Art Boom: From Local Vision to International Presence". Additionally this publication is an anthology of 100 articles of art criticism written by Turner. 2. Infobox Writer includes highlighted awards 3. Awards and Recognition section includes 8 professional merit grants, awards and honors. 4.The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in a specific field: Turner's contributions to the field of art criticism are part of Miami's historical record regarding significant artists and contemporary art programs. The Public Speaking & Essays and Publications sections substantiate this in list format. The Vasari Project Special Collection is also a reliable secondary source for Turner's contribution to Miami's art historical records.
Can you please explain why you feel these References do not meet the guidelines. NewQi (talk) 00:13, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- @NewQi:. What reply? I checked your talk page and you made the comment within 24 hours and I was not pinged. Unfortuantely, I do not watch everyone's talk page so you will need to ping. For anything you want to address with the draft, I would suggest using that talk page so that all editors reviewing are able to see the comments and opine accordingly. I will tell you that you pointed out a lot of the issue in your statement above. You reference interviews which cannot be used to establish notability. You also talk about awards which is great, but awards do not grant WP:INHERENT notability. What I would suggest is using the talk page of the draft and pointing out the WP:THREE references you feel shows notability. This would be a good start for those reviewing the draft. --CNMall41 (talk) 04:20, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

Draft:Oscar C. Burritt; Oscar C. Burritt (redirect)
[edit]Hi there: First of all, thank you for your helpful suggestions on my draft, "The Vancouver Film Society," which is now online.
I have another draft-in-progress about filmmaker "Oscar C. Burritt" who had connections with The Vancouver Film Society. My draft about him has been up for some weeks now. (Maybe you would like to review it?)
Meanwhile, you have created a redirect page that goes from "Oscar C. Burritt" to "The Vancouver Film Society." It's causing some problems for me as I try to work on the Burritt draft. I'm being told that my draft duplicates an existing page, and circular references keep popping up, etc.
I wonder if you would mind deleting your Burritt redirect page so that I can prevent this confusion. The Burritt page will definitely explain his link to the Vancouver Film Society (and vice versa), once it's been approved.
Thanks again! Filmhunter (talk) 00:47, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- @Filmhunter:, it actually does not cause a problem although I can see from your point of view how it would. The note at the top of the draft simply notifies reviewers that the name is occupied in the mainspace, not that there is an actual page. Reviewers will check as part of the normal review process and can request deletion of the redirect to move the draft if they find it notable. I restored the redirect for now but again, a reviewer can request the deletion if they find the draft for Burritt notable. Cheers! --CNMall41 (talk) 04:27, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

Agent 007 (talk) 15:59, 2 October 2025 (UTC)Disputing declined draft submission
[edit]I hope this message finds you well. I've been meaning to follow up regarding the recent decline of my submission (Draft:Wicked: For Good – The Soundtrack) on the basis of WP:TOOSOON guidelines. In your response, you mentioned the absence of charts or reviews for the soundtrack, and the decline notice also cited insufficient coverage of topic. Considering the soundtrack's predecessor was moved from the draft namespace to the main namespace the same day it was announced, with only two veritable references, I'm not entirely sure why my submission was not accepted under similar circumstances (and with a good number references as well), unless there have been changes to submission policy since last year. I would appreciate any clarification or guidance on the matter. J·B·D (talk) 02:27, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- @J·B·D:, thanks for the message. The page you cited was not submitted through AfC. It was created in the mainspace by a user who moved it from draft to the mainspace. Anyone could have recommended it for deletion but they did not. WP:OTHERSTUFF is the relevant link here as we do not base decision for all pages based on something that happened on another. That aside, notability for your submission was reviewed against WP:NMUSIC, specifically WP:UNRELEASED. In order to qualify, it must have significant coverage in reliable sources. The draft you submitted falls short in my opinion. It has Instagram, BroadwayWorld, and Twitter as sources which are not considered reliable. The rest are mentions of songs or routine coverage of release dates. The only source that could potentially used to show notability is this. Without those sources, it would need to meet WP:NALBUM. Unfortunately, it would not fall under any of that criteria as it is not yet released (which is why it cannot chart, etc.). Hopefully this helps. You are always free to resubmit if you can provide sources showing UNRELEASED. If not, I feel it would still be TOOSOON. --CNMall41 (talk) 02:46, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- @J·B·D:, as a follow-up, I did a deeper dive online this morning to see if there is anything that would show notability. What I found were mainly announcements of the release and churnalism. Other references were track listings. Unfortunately, I do not see it passing notability. What I would recommend is starting a discussion at WikiProjects Albums to see if anyone there has a different take on it. Good luck.--CNMall41 (talk) 18:50, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Respectfully, CN, I think this was a wrong call. There is no reasonable possibility that a soundtrack album for a major motion picture with A-list stars on the soundtrack (and featuring soundtrack renditions of already-notable songs) will fail to meet the threshold of notability. BD2412 T 19:12, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- Respectfully, it's not that it "will fail," it is that it "currently fails." The sources are all announcements and churnalism. I am 100% confident it will meet notability guidelines sometime in the future (likely near future), which is why I said TOOSOON. I also provided a detailed explanation and a link where OP is welcome to request a second opinion. --CNMall41 (talk) 19:14, 3 October 2025 (UTC)

- Would information from the album manufacturer (in this case, Universal/Republic) or product listings for physical/digital releases count as notable or reliable sources of information? J·B·D (talk) 23:04, 3 October 2025 (UTC)
- They would count towards verifiability of information, but not notability in my opinion. I would highly recommend, for the third time, to use the Albums Project talk page as they may have a differing opinion and may be able to steer you in a better direction. Also, see WP:OWN as I am not the gatekeeper to what is/isn't moved to the mainspace. AfC is only a venue for review, not the ultimate step for notability. The opinion I gave above is just that...my opinion, which is based on my understand of the guidelines and experience of seeing how they are applied. Again, I strongly suggest using the Album Project talk page for more assistance. --CNMall41 (talk) 00:58, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
