Your submission at Articles for creation: sandbox (September 13)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Qcne were:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations. Please cite your sources using footnotes. For instructions on how to do this, please see Referencing for beginners. Thank you.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Thank you for submitting your draft.

In a biographic article all biographic statements (starting with the date of birth) must be accompanied by an in-line citation to a reliable, published source.

Please add in-line citations to every biographic statement by following the tutorial at Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor. The biographic policy, which you should also carefully read, can be found at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons.

Once you have added in-line citations, you can re-submit this draft for review.

Let me know if you have any questions, be either replying to this post on your Talk Page, or leaving me a message on my Talk Page.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Hi Qcne, thank you for making time to review my submission. Kavita Baruah (Rose Baruah) is an Assamese singer and younger sister of Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary cultural icon of India. I have tried to add several newspaper mentions and articles alongwith her old recordings / songs published on YourTube. I have been trying to add relevant photographs but I am being unable to do so. Please let me know how I can improve this submission to a point where you can accept it. After this is done, I will have to submit a few edits on the Bhupen Hazarika page as well. Look forward to your guidance. Thank you. EthosEditor (talk) 12:02, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @EthosEditor.
We really need multiple reliable journalistic sources that discuss/critique/analyse in an in-depth way Kavita Baruah and her music, specifically not based on an interview with her or her family. Most of your sources are just YouTube videos of her songs. Of your three newspaper sources only one really gives enough in-depth coverage.
Do you have some better sources?
I also think the draft can be condensed substantially, you have loads of paragraphs with no citations at all. As I said in my first decline, in a biographic every biographic statement needs an in-line citation. qcne (talk) 12:07, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Qcne I sincerely understand your suggestion. You are right - one article about her summarizes her contributions in a detailed way (https://medium.com/@joorbaruah/bhupenda-was-an-inspiration-ac544070a56a). Unfortunately she does not have much media coverage as she has always been media shy and avoided any paid PR and press. But her songs are very well known all over Assam and India. I am trying to update her profile because there is a big event happening as I write where the prime minister of India is releasing a coin honoring Bhupen Hazarika (where she is also present). Also, I think if I am allowed to submit a set of photos, each photo will perhaps add a story. I will continue to work on improving the submission. Please share if you have additional thoughts or guidance. Thanks. EthosEditor (talk) 12:15, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@EthosEditor Medium is not a reliable source, sorry.
If there are no published reliable sources then there can be no article, I'm sorry. qcne (talk) 12:40, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That detailed article is published in The Silling Times. It has been transcribed on Medium so that people can read. EthosEditor (talk) 13:02, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please see The Shillong Times article image at the bottom. Anyways, I will work on your feedback. EthosEditor (talk) 13:02, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So, that is specifically an interview with her family member, so wouldn't really count. qcne (talk) 17:53, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
also, I can make it much more condensed like you are suggesting. EthosEditor (talk) 12:18, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
not sure what you mean. It is an interview about her life's work by a journalist from The Shillong Times. Anyways, let me see how I can improve it overall. EthosEditor (talk) 20:30, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I have added the template at the top of Draft:Kavita Baruah so it has been submitted for review via the WP:Articles for creation process. Overall, it's looking in decent shape; I'm sure the reviewer will have some feedback, but it's a good draft! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia, and please be patient while the page is awaiting review - there's currently a backlog and it may be a few weeks or even months. —Ganesha811 (talk) 19:34, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
also, should I click on the button 'submit the draft for review'? you mention that you have submitted it for review but I still see the button. EthosEditor (talk) 19:40, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I assume you saw my other message, and I see you've now submitted it - congrats! I hope it's accepted. —Ganesha811 (talk) 22:08, 19 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Draft:UKBaruah

[edit]

Hello EthosEditor,

Thank you for your work on Draft:UKBaruah. I was going through Wikipedia's draft section when I noticed there were some issues with the draft. You can start by asking questions at the Teahouse, it’s a great place for new editors to get help. I have proceeded to publish an improved version of the article, which you can find at Upendra Kumar Baruah. I’m still refining citations and references, so if you have any additional sources or context that might help improve it, please feel free to share them on my talk page. Happy editing!
