Welcome to my talk page. Please be civil and not rude or insulting. Thanks.
Hello. You're invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It started today on Monday June 16 and will run until Sunday July 13. There is over $3300 going into it, with $500 the top prize. If you are interested in winning something to save you money in buying books for future content, or just see it as a good editathon opportunity to see a lot of articles improved for subjects which interest you, sign up on the page in the participants section if interested. Even if you can only manage a few articles they would be very much appreciated and help make the content produced as diverse and broad as possible! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:45, 16 June 2025 (UTC)

Destubathon runs until the 16th of July
[edit]Hi, just a courtesy message to notify you in case you haven't seen the Wikipedia:The World Destubathon contest update in the last few days that we've decided to run the full month until the 16th of July. For those who have been too busy to contribute, we would love some help in reaching 4000 articles by Wednesday night! At present we're about 480 articles short!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:48, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for August 27
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Culver's, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Georgia. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

- I saw your username in Teahouse and thought how nice is to come by someone from the same science field :) A09|(talk) 22:10, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
Hello Metallurgist, have you intentionally nominated the article about the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture for proposed deletion during the article creator's 2-week block, expecting them to object to the deletion but being unable to remove the tag? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 00:39, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, I was not aware of that being an issue, or I would have waited or pursued a normal AFD, so that is fine. I nominated the article based on the arguments used in two similar AFDs I participated in, where schools are generally not notable on their own, independent of the college or university. See here and here. I expected that this met the PROD standards because of that, the latter was indeed treated as a PROD. Obviously, OSDE, but I patterned my thoughts and argument on this, and there doesnt seem to be much in the way of RS for it. I will wait until the editors block ends to pursue a formal AFD. The editor has raved that there is some grand conspiracy against them, which another editor mentioned in a reversion iirc. And there is a sock investigation involving them, which I am not fully persuaded about, but there is some overlap which was fair to question. They have also been a bit problematic in a few areas, such as changing dozens of articles that linked to natural gas, to a pipe that said methane, which is quite bizarre and also false (methane is a pure gas, natural gas is mostly methane, but has several additives). Another editor on their talkpage pointed this out, which prompted me to look into if it continued or not, and the editor in question had continued to make such changes, and lightly edit warred with me when I tried to fixed those changes. Metallurgist (talk) 16:42, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Well, it did look really targeted/bad-faith especially as multi-article reverts of contributions from the same user led to the block in the first place. Thanks for the clarification that this isn't actually the case, and thanks for waiting with further deletion nominations while the user is blocked. In general, if there are not-entirely-absurd concerns about hounding, it may be advisable to act as if there was an interaction ban in place for at least a while, to prevent one from actually being placed in case the matter is taken to WP:ANI by an annoyed user. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:51, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I dont think either of us want that. I have worked with that editor before on a page, so I am not sure why the sudden aboutface. My main concern is the mass changes of natural gas to methane, which I think there are still quite a number left. Metallurgist (talk) 23:04, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- I find it concerning that shortly after a thinly veiled threat against a page I created that you’d try and have that very same page deleted. I'm going to insist that you take ToBeFree's advice and not interact with my edits or page. Also a heads up that I will be creating a noticeboard regarding the Milstein page situation. 81567518W (talk) 12:07, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
- I looked into that page after seeing that post and it is not notable. There are numerous examples of similar pages being deleted or merged. See here and here. I am frankly skeptical that you are a sock of that other account, the evidence is thin to nonexistent, and addressed that. I agree we should limit interactions, but we may come upon each other on things, sometimes agreeing sometimes not. I would also suggest you lay off contentious material for awhile and not try to pick fights everywhere. I will note that you solicited outside input on BLPN for the Milstein page and we were able to work out a consensus there. I think you and I and/or you and the other editors there can work out a consensus. No one is disputing some of the controversies, but it is improper to make a whole controversies section, and some of the material is overstated or not notable. This would be the same for any biography, such as Marshall Berman, and especially BLP.
- You have already been sanctioned for contentious edits and edit warring on that page, so it might be best to lay off for awhile, and come back at it later. You have plenty of good things to contribute here. I think we should not be on each others talk pages for a few months going forward. So lets just leave it at that. If other people want to pick a battle with you, thats on them. I try to get people to a consensus. Others like to battle it out. Have a good weekend. [edit]I'm not inclined to believe Trump either, but The Times, Associated Press, and Deseret News are all reporting that Kirk has died. We have to follow the data on this one, and if it turns out to be false then we'll fix it then. –DMartin 21:05, 10 September 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Note that we should if the BLP of someone described him in the lead using specific terms we should use them in every article - and Kirk is described as right-wing. Doug Weller talk 08:05, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Doug Weller No problem. I was mostly focused on changing over the killing links to assassination. Not even sure why I changed that as I dont think I did on any other page, except one where someone put Christian nationalist which I changed to right wing or conservative. I will try to look for that one to check. Cheers. Metallurgist (talk) 17:07, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- Oh it was that one. Thats why I was confused by this as I didnt remember changing right wing to conservative. Again, no problem with your change. Metallurgist (talk) 17:09, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
