Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Chipman-Lamont school bus-train collision, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chipman. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Reusing refs

[edit]

Hello,

I've been doing a bit of work on Berthusen Barn and Privy, which you created. I noticed that you went to the trouble of entering the same reference three times. In fact there's no need to do that—it's possible to give the reference a name then reuse it (as I've now done with those three occurrences). In the source editor, it looks like this for the first time you use the reference:

<ref name=shindruk>Shindruk, Linda, "Lynden hopes to save crumbling Berthusen Barn", ''The Bellingham Herald'', January 8, 2002, p. 4.</ref>

and then when you want to cite it again, all you need is:

<ref name=shindruk />

(It doesn't matter which comes first in the text—the full version just has to be there somewhere.)

I don't use the visual editor, but I think that puts named references in a popup list which you can then choose from.

Hoping this is useful to you.

Citation style

[edit]

Please make sure to follow the guidelines at WP:Newspapers.com and fill out the relevant parameters in {{cite news}}. In addition, please consider a consistent date format (MDY is preferred for American topics) and place the publication in the correct parameter (work instead of publisher). Hi Morainelake. Thank you for your work on Oshrin Hospital. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thank you for producing such a detailed history of the hospital, including also the subsequent use of the site. Quite a range of activity of the course of a century! I've done some minor copy editing, but the tone and referencing are generally very good. Others have commented (on other pages) on your referencing style - the advantage of using citation templates over plain text is that they are less prone to link rot. Regardless, for older newspapers, that's less of a problem!

Hi Morainelake. Thank you for your work on Blue Mountain Sanatorium. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for another great article on a hospital, referenced mostly from back issues of The Spokesman-Review. Some might argue that the reliance on primary sources is rather heavy, but my view is that readers benefit from this content. It might be helpful, though, to find secondary sources that point to its importance or impact.

Hi Morainelake. Thank you for your work on Central Washington Tuberculosis Hospital. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Another interesting history; I wonder, though, whether the aricle should focus on the sites more recent use as a nursing facility (or school), which has dominated more of its existence. Regardless, given the current focus, the title is right.

Hi Morainelake. Thank you for your work on Aldercrest Sanatorium. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for the article on this sanatorium too. I note that another editor was concerned about notability, which I can understand given the reliance of what might be thought of as 'routine coverage' in newspapers. Nevertheless, I think that sustained coverage over several decades is sufficient.
