I am once again asking you to disable draft categories properly, instead of deleting them entirely
[edit]I just reviewed this draft where you'd once again dealt with categories in a draft by removing them entirely. Please stop doing that. Checking the categories for red links can be a helpful indicator of AI slop; even though you've said it's faster for you to just remove them all, it slows things down on the reviewing end, because if I'm on the fence about whether a draft is LLM-generated, it forces me to look at old revisions (or sometimes I'm sure I just miss the evidence entirely). All you need to do to properly disable categories is expand the AFCH menu with the [«] button, then click the "clean submission" button. I don't know your workflow, but I think cleaning might even take fewer clicks than blanking the categories. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 23:50, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
- For about the millionth time that I have had to explain this, there is no rule that disabling categories on drafts is "the proper way" and removing them is "wrong" — they are both permissible options, and neither one of them is "preferred" over or "deprecated" under the other one.
- As I've pointed out many times, draft creators frequently do not wait for AFC review, and just move their own drafts themselves the moment they think they're done. So every bad category I leave on a draft in disabled form is just setting up more category cleanup down the line: every redlinked category I leave on a draft in disabled form is another redlink added to the next run of the redlinked category report; every container category I leave on a draft in disabled form (e.g. a draft about a musician that's been filed directly in Category:Music instead of the appropriate "[Country] musicians" subcategory) is another category added to the next run of the non-empty container categories report; and on and so forth.
- The time issue is not only about the number of clicks it takes to deal with the immediate situation — it's also about what additional cleanup work gets set up down the line. Since I'm the person who also typically cleans up the redlinked category report, that means every redlink I leave on a draft is setting up more unnecessary future work for myself — and since nobody is actually dealing with cleaning up non-empty container categories on any consistent basis, every container category I leave on a draft even if it's not where a mainspace article about the draft subject would belong is setting up more overdue cleanup work that's just going to linger without getting dealt with by anybody.
- So, essentially what you're telling me is that I should voluntarily consider your time to be important and valuable than my own time: the minor inconvenience to you, as a person who might need help figuring out whether a small number of drafts you're reviewing might be AI slop should be a more paramount concern to me than the major inconvenience that I'd be setting up for myself as the person who's going to have to revisit the same 200 pages again a week later to re-remove the same redlinked categories from them again. So I'm simply not going to leave a redlinked category on a draft in disabled form, because I'm the one who's going to have to deal with the same redlinked category again if and when the page gets moved into mainspace.
- If your perspective as a person who's looking at the drafts from a reviewer perspective means that you feel more comfortable just disabling categories on a draft instead of removing them, that's perfectly fine and you're free to do it that way — but from my perspective as a person who's dealing with them from the category-cleanup side of the equation, there are many reasons why removing the categories outright is often preferable, and that's also perfectly fine and not at all disallowed. Bearcat (talk) 12:57, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- And I will also add that I've been trying the "clean submission" option via the AFC processing feature, and I don't like it — not least because it doesn't give me the opportunity to add WP:DRAFTNOCAT to my edit summary, so the submitter of the draft is receiving no indication whatsoever of why "cleaning" the submission involves disabling the categories, and thus making it substantially more likely that they will then undisable the categories to put the draft back into them. But that's also a thing I also have every right to do everything in my power to minimize or prevent, such as by being clearer about why I'm doing what I'm doing in the first place than the AFC gadget allows me to. So it's also not the ideal solution either. Bearcat (talk) 13:46, 4 September 2025 (UTC)

A Soft Touch
[edit]Since A Soft Touch (film) has been created, I would make that the primary topic and hence move it to A Soft Touch. I don't think a disambiguation page is necessary as the only other disambiguation entries are the TV program (which I removed, as it only had a redlink) and the TV episode redirect (which could be handled as a hatnote, if required). I can't do the page move myself due to the disambiguation page blocking it, but if you agree with my reasoning then I'll put in a page move request. --Jameboy (talk) 21:30, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- No problem, I will leave it as it is in that case. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 12:36, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

The article Confederate patriotism has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Reasons for deletion WP:DEL-REASON includes Overcategorization WP:OVERCAT. There is no logical way to separate Confederate patriotism from Union patriotism, Confederate propaganda, Confederate nationalism, Confederate racism and Confederate fatalism (see talk page). The two referenced books would add little to the existing Confederate States article.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Julian in LA (talk) 23:01, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
- You do know that if you propose an article for deletion, you don't have to personally notify everybody who's ever touched it even if they simply performed a single maintenance edit on it 13 years ago and have never once had a single thing to do with it since, right? Bearcat (talk) 23:02, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

There is a new user Special:Contributions/Hashrate09 with a single edit Special:Diff/1312499160 at Transgender violence hoax that was reverted for vandalism Special:Diff/1312499174 by ClueBot NG (which left a message on the user's talk page User talk:Hashrate09) but which was also clearly transphobia. Please add Template:uncat when removing all categories
[edit]When you remove all categories from a page that should be categorized, can you please add a valid category or {{Uncategorized}} to the page? It saves a step and prevents pages from appearing in reports of uncategorized pages. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:34, 21 September 2025 (UTC)
- Since when has there ever been a rule that templates always have to be categorized in anything like the same way that articles always have to be categorized? Categorization of templates is certainly encouraged where and when appropriate, but since when has it ever been a requirement? Bearcat (talk) 12:19, 22 September 2025 (UTC)

Your recent mass deletion
[edit]I can't tell you what a shock it was to see that you entirely deleted scores of my contributions to the "(year) in Canada" pages. It has taken me all day just to record what you've done.
Would it not have been possible to leave it alone while the legitimacy of my work was examined? Starting the process with total deletion seems like a shoot first and ask questions later way of editing. And saying I "badly added content" is a value judgment. What was "bad" about it?
I hope you will revert all the total deletions you have made. In creating a "Historical documents" section, I was using the BOLD approach that is encouraged. Eliminating someone's work is discouraging. Man1t0ba (talk) 21:21, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
- Reversion was discussed at Talk:1816 in Canada and at the WikiProject talk page. All participating editors advocated removal of this poorly formatted trivia lacking context. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:06, 24 September 2025 (UTC)

Sock
[edit]I would like to bring to your attention that User:Krishnarthiindia, previously blocked on English Wikipedia as a sockpuppet of MediaTribe, is currently active on Hindi Wikipedia and creating multiple promotional pages.
🔗 User page on Hindi Wikipedia
I raised this issue with Hindi Wikipedia administrator सदस्य:संजीव कुमार, but his response suggests that the matter is being overlooked. Our discussion is here:
🔗 Talk page discussion
As an example, the article on Yohan Poonawalla has been repeatedly deleted on English Wikipedia due to COI and promotional issues:
- EN: Yohan Poonawalla (deleted multiple times)
- HI: योहान पूनावाला
This demonstrates a clear case of cross-wiki paid/COI editing.
Further evidence of promotional editing by this user includes:
- Abhay Singh (Jamshedpur politician) (created and later deleted)
- Anshuman Bhagat
- Yohan Poonawalla
- Ajay Mehgi (ऋतु मेंगी)
Given the user’s established connection to MediaTribe and a pattern of COI and promotional activity across projects, I kindly request an investigation into their activities on Hindi Wikipedia. The BO57! (talk) 15:34, 25 September 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting a reassessment of Draft:Michael Craven, which was declined for not having significant coverage. The reviewer’s main concerns were about significant coverage and the depth/independence of sources.
Here’s why I believe Craven clearly passes Wikipedia’s notability criteria for sports executives:
• Substantial, Reliable Secondary Coverage: - Craven is directly and repeatedly interviewed by Sports Illustrated (Justin Barrasso), and has a full-length profile in Fox Sports Australia as well as an exclusive feature in Undisputed, all as the main subject…not just a passing mention.
- Sources: https://www.si.com/wrestling/2019/06/03/njpw-aew-talent-sharing-jon-moxley-chris-jericho-michael-craven
https://undisputed.substack.com/p/michael-craven-joins-rizin-fighting
• Firsts and Industry Impact: - He is the first non-Japanese executive to oversee international expansion for NJPW, and the first to coordinate major events in three different countries within a single year…a unique achievement by Japanese wrestling standards and a first.
• Context for Notability: - Per WP:SPORTSBIO and Wikipedia’s general notability guideline, sports executives can be considered notable if their decisions and strategies are the main coverage subject in independent, reliable sources. - In wrestling and MMA, executive profiles and in-depth interviews are typically how major decision-makers are covered. The above sources provide multiple paragraphs (not just quotes) on Craven’s career, background, and impact.
- If any specific source is deemed insufficient or primary, please let me know which, so I can supplement or remove it as appropriate.
Could an experienced editor with background in pro wrestling or sports industry bios confirm if this meets GNG and, if not, provide concrete direction?
Thank you so much for your time and help.
