Greek scientist and businessman (BLP). Not clear that he meets WP:BASIC: I see lots of articles written by the subject himself, and also lots of pages belonging to organisations with which the subject is affiliated, but maybe only one piece of substantial coverage of the subject himself, which is clearly based on an interview. It's not clear to me that he meets any of the criteria of WP:ACADEMIC either. Dionysodorus (talk) 15:27, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- This article was made for a Greek entrepreneur / businessman. He is NOT an academic!! I will try to improve the article and add sources, to reach the criteria of WP:BASIC. G-Lignum (talk) 16:00, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, I know he's a businessman: I was just pointing out that he doesn't meet the criteria for academics either (which was worth considering, since he does have academic publications). Please note that the number of sources isn't the important thing here: in order to establish his notability, all you would need to do is to show that there are three or so news articles or academic books that discuss him in detail (so not just brief mentions) and which are fully independent of him (so not e.g. interviews or features clearly written in collaboration with him). Adding more sources that don't meet these criteria won't achieve anything in terms of demonstrating notability. Dionysodorus (talk) 16:09, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Dionysodorus: *Following your advice, I have made some editing. Now at the present form, the article contains three news articles for the subject (no 4 in newpaper Proto Thema, no 5 in newspaper Ta Nea, and also no 6 in the economic magazine New Money). Besides, the work of I. Arabatzis is mentioned in two academic books (no 20; no 21). Thanks! G-Lignum (talk) 17:10, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- @G-Lignum: Routine citations in academic publications don't necessarily imply notability: only books that actually discuss him substantively and in detail count towards WP:BASIC. The Proto Thema and Ta Nea articles (when taken together with the New Money article that I linked in my original nomination) are more promising, but I'm still not entirely sure if they are enough for WP:BASIC, since the Proto Thema and Ta Nea articles are both interview-based and the New Money one isn't very detailed. But I do think the article makes a better case for notability now than it did before. Let's wait and see if anyone else here has a view. Dionysodorus (talk) 22:39, 27 September 2025 (UTC)

- Keep the article – I believe this subject meets Wikipedia’s general notability guidelines as well as the specific criteria for entrepreneurs.
Reasons for notability: *Academic / research contributions – Arabatzis holds a PhD in Chemistry and has authored peer-reviewed publications in nanotechnology, coatings, and materials science. His work has been cited in scientific literature, and he has also been active in patenting and applied R&D. * Innovation / commercial impact – Founder and Managing Director of NanoPhos S.A., a nanotechnology company exporting coatings for construction and maritime use to multiple countries. The company’s products (e.g. self-cleaning and antifouling coatings) have been recognized for their innovative application of nanotechnology. * Awards / recognition – Winner of the European Business Plan Competition (2005), which is an international entrepreneurial contest. He has also received recognition in the Greek Shipping Awards for technological innovation. * Independent coverage – Arabatzis has been covered in multiple independent, reliable sources including maritimes.gr, Greek Shipping Awards, ALBA Graduate Business School publications, 4-5 times in major Greek newspapers, and other trade/industry media. This shows attention from sources independent of the subject.
Addressing concerns: *While some sources are industry-press or local in scope, they are independent and verifiable. Trade and business press are routinely accepted as reliable secondary sources for business/entrepreneurial figures. * Promotion? The article avoids fully promotional tone and its neutrality is appropriate. * Notability does not require fame; the combination of international awards, patents, publications, and commercial success demonstrates lasting significance. This is my view and I fully stop here. I did my best respecting this article. G-Lignum (talk) 10:12, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- @G-Lignum: This has the appearance of being possibly AI-written. Did you use an AI to help draft it? —David Eppstein (talk) 18:12, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello David! - yes, you are right. I used the help of AI. BUT, afterwards I tried to work all of the text, to some extent. Of course, it contains some mistakes; but, I think that the subject has some notability. The text needs to be corrected more. To ask you all: Is AI not allowed in Wikipedia? - Another point of you by AI itself (specifically, GPT); Just now I received an asnwer from the AI-GPT in which I gave the whole wiki-text of Ioannis Arabatzis article! Its answer: Conclusion: This text does not strongly resemble raw AI-generated writing. It looks much more like a Wikipedia entry (or a draft for one), possibly with some light AI assistance in phrasing or formatting. The heavy sourcing and structured style strongly suggest a human-compiled document. It is fun! G-Lignum (talk) 17:40, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
