Spam blacklists |
---|
|
The Spam-whitelist page is used in conjunction with the Mediawiki SpamBlacklist extension, and lists strings of text that override Meta's blacklist and the local spam-blacklist.
Please enter your requests at the bottom of the page. Sign your requests with four tildes: ~~~~
Also in your request, please include the following:
- The link that you want whitelisted in the section title, like === example.com/help/index.php === .
- The Wikipedia page on which you want to use the link
- An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper
- If the site you're requesting is listed at /Common requests, please include confirmation that you have read the reason why requests regarding the site are commonly denied and that you still desire to proceed with your request
Important: You must provide a full link to the specific web page you want to be whitelisted (leave out the http://
from the front; otherwise you will not be able to save your edit to this page). Requests quoting only a domain (i.e. ending in .com
or similar with nothing after the /
character) are likely to be denied. If you wish to have a site fully unblocked please visit the relevant section of MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.
Note: Do not request links to be whitelisted where you can reasonably suspect that the material you want to link to is in violation of copyright (see WP:LINKVIO). Such requests will likely be summarily rejected.
There is no automated notification system in place for the results of requests, and you will not be notified when your request has a response. You should therefore add this page to your personal watch list, to your notifications through the subscribe feature, or check back here every few days to see if there is any progress on it; in particular, you should check whether administrators have raised any additional queries or expressed any concerns about the request, as failure to reply to these promptly will generally result in the request being denied.
Completed requests are archived, additions and removal are logged. →snippet for logging: {{/request|1314312646#section_name}}
Note that requests from new or unregistered users are not usually considered.
Admins: Use seth's tool to search the spamlists.

Proposed additions
[edit]
If you have a source that you would like to add to the spam-whitelist, but you are uncertain that it meets Wikipedia's guideline on reliability, please ask for opinions on the Reliable sources noticeboard, to confirm that it does meet that guideline, before submitting your whitelisting request here. In your request, link to the confirming discussion on that noticeboard.
Likewise, if you have an external link that you are uncertain meets Wikipedia's guideline on external links, please get confirmation on the External links noticeboard before submitting your whitelisting request here.
If your whitelist request falls under one of these two categories, the admins will be more willing to have the source whitelisted if you can achieve consensus at one of the above noticeboards.
Add new entries at the bottom of this page. Completed requests will be marked with an appropriate Indicator then archived.
If the above information is not provided, expect your request to be declined. PLEASE ADD NEW ENTRIES TO THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST PLEASE SIGN YOUR ENTRY WITH FOUR TILDES: ~~~~ |

chaturbate.com is the "official website" for the article above and therefore I need this domain whitelisted so I can add it to the infobox. WikiNick89 (talk) 00:45, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- @WikiNick89: per MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist/Common_requests#The_official_homepage_of_the_subject_of_a_page, we would need an about-page or a full url (including an index.htm) of the index page. Can you please provide a suitable link? --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:13, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- @Beetstra: So Wikipedia won't allow me to share the official website link here because it's blacklisted but if you put "https://" in front of chaturbate.com then it will take you to their official website. While there’s no separate About page or index.htm, this is the domain promoted by the organization on its Twitter profile and in other external references.WikiNick89 (talk) 19:53, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- Did you read the explanation? And it is not that a page MUST have its official website listed, we've had instances where we even had to deny about pages. Dirk Beetstra T C 06:34, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
- And here we will not whitelist the top page because for similar sites the top page is the one that is constantly abused. Please find a neutral landing page. Dirk Beetstra T C 06:40, 5 August 2025 (UTC)

This is the official website for Field Recordings (podcast) and I'd like to include it in an external links section. I am not really seeing specific subpages that could be whitelisted. TipsyElephant (talk) 12:22, 1 September 2025 (UTC)
- @TipsyElephant: Specific page is not needed for .xyz websites, the problem is the TLD, not (all) the domains on it.

Paralaje.xyz publishes critical and creative writing on contemporary Ecuadorian art, culture, and education. I am looking to cite the above page in National Museum of Ecuador. Cobblet (talk) 20:11, 14 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Cobblet:, based on your request I will whitelist the whole site, this is blacklisted under the blanket .xyz-TLD rule (.xyz was easy to get and massively abused/spammed with very minimal 'proper' use.

The London Economic

- Link requested to be whitelisted:
thelondoneconomic.com/politics/netanyahu-boycotts-isolating-israeli-economy-398005
- For the following articles: Sparta Speech.
I am asking a removal of the link from the English Wikipedia spam blacklist. My intent is to cite this source in the Sparta Speech article, specifically regarding free market matters discussed in the speech.
Reviewing the blacklist, it appears The London Economic was added in 2020 due to SEO issues, not unreliability. As per WP:BLACKLIST and WP:RS, blacklisting is intended as a last resort against persistent disruption or unreliability, with removal when there is compelling evidence that risk no longer exists or the site is not problematic for reliability. In this case, The London Economic provides coverage relevant to the topic and is not being used for promotion or disruption. Dgw|Talk 04:41, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Dorian Gray Wild That's not what I see, I see indeed paid editing spam, but, per m:Talk:Spam_blacklist/Archives/2020-02#blackhat_SEO_spam_sites, these acocunts were spamming material which was totally misrepresening/"rubbish". Is this article reliable? Dirk Beetstra T C 10:45, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- I am not a paid editor. The article "Netanyahu: Boycotts isolating Israeli economy" was written by Bill Curtis, a political journalist for The London Economic. He regularly writes for The Big Issue, The Daily Telegraph and Metro. The article is reliable and describes in details the Sparta Speech: "I am a supporter of the free market, but we may find ourselves in a situation where our arms industries are blocked." Full speech is here. Dgw|Talk 11:44, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Dorian Gray Wild: I was not implying that you were a paid editor, I was stating that the material was spammed, ánd that they were spamming cases where there was something going on related to reliability (the blacklisting discussion suggested that the material on thelondoneconomic was 'rubbish').

lenta.ru coverage of HC Norilsk
[edit]- Link requested to be whitelisted:
lenta.ru/articles/2023/09/06/icehomeland/
I'm writing a draft about HC Norilsk, a Russian professional hockey club. The link I want to add is an article covering the team's first ever official game. Шахматист2025 (talk) 23:44, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
- Moved the draft to mainspace. Now it's at HC Norilsk. Шахматист2025 (talk) 19:21, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
Hypothetical question
[edit]Well, maybe hypothetical, this may very well have happened. If someone would ask here "I'd like this blacklisted piece (OpIndia, Breitbart, whatever) whitelisted so I can use it in a Template:Press on (for example) Talk:Wikipedia and/or Wikipedia:Press coverage 2025."
Can you tell me what the response would likely be, or actually was? Let's assume there is no BLP/OUTING etc problem in the particular piece. It's not something I'm going to ask, but the question has come up, and I'm curious what the "reality" is. Breitbart has appeared in those places before the blacklisting, but I'm unaware of any post-blacklisting appearances. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:35, 20 September 2025 (UTC)
- Use the archive link of the same rather than the live website. Sohom (talk) 05:22, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
- Isn't that just side-stepping the purpose of having a blacklist/whitelist? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:16, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Gråbergs Gråa Sång We generally whitelist specific links for specific purposes. The example you use, breitbart, is just so often unreliable that 'normal use' would result in a lot of 'bad' references. The whitelist there exists to whitelist a specific link for a specific case, where a case can be made that the link there is suitable for the purpose. There is a lot of non-spam material blacklisted just because by far most of the cases are abuse, misuse or wrong use. Pornhub is not blacklisted for spamming, it is blacklisted for persistent abuse; change.org is not blacklisted for spamming but for persistent soapboxing/misuse issues, breitbart is blacklisted for constant misuse/wrong use (a lot of bad references) - we whitelist all of those if a proper case can be made for its use.
For non-mainspace we generally do not whitelist for regular use (use a non-linking url in discussions), but we do sometimes whitelist for Signpost or banner use. Dirk Beetstra T C 08:30, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

bigredbook.info/elizabeth_ward.html
- To use on File:Elizabeth Ward.jpg as the immediate source of this image.
- I have included this link for now without the https://, which I think is fine for this purpose. But don't want this to be perceived as a sneaky workaround if it's not allowed, so asking here. Fine to decline this request if File:Elizabeth Ward.jpg is ok as-is.
Jonathan Deamer (talk) 08:01, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Jonathan Deamer The link without https:// is fine, there is no demand that it is a clickable link. Bigredbook.info was however deemed a personal blog, and in the (far) past concerns of scraping were mentioned on pages on this site. I do have concerns that the image you used is not originally from bigredbook.info, but from somewhere else, and we are supposed to link to the original source (as you do). I am not sure if we need to mention the immediate source at all. Dirk Beetstra T C 06:57, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

Outtake from the Reception section of Bouchra (draft) at AFC, from September 25. From what I've assumed, Fakewhale is an otherwise legit art site (albeit with an occasional aside on the NFT movement).
In case any on board here are asking/wondering, Bouchra is an adult computer-animated film with animal characters, touted as Morocco's first animated feature. Bouchra entered the festival circuit this month; this review dates from the time it was originally screened under the title For Aicha at a Milan art facility. --Slgrandson (How's my egg-throwing coleslaw?) 19:27, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
