Honorifics
[edit]Édouard Muller (businessman) is a bit of a mess of an article, with barely referenced original research dating back to 2013 taking up a majority of the page, though I think it can be salvaged with more citations and copyediting. One issue I noticed that I haven't really seen on most pages is the overuse of honorifics like "Mr. Example" and "Mrs. Blank" instead of a full name. But due to the lack of easily verifiable citations all I could do was remove the majority of these (see page history) and not provide any given name. Is there anything in the manual of style about what to do when a first name is not given? I'm not yet prepared to spend days learning about the early history of Nestle to get these names and source the article properly. This is also an invitation for any experts on the subject to look over the page since I haven't done much. Thanks! MynameisnotDwight (talk) 02:09, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- All I know is we shouldn't use honorifics.
- As for names, some of them aren't important and can be removed completely. For example, there's this passage:
- At that time, Nestlé had several head offices including one in London with L. Auget as president, one in Paris with Liotard and another in Cham with Page, and one in Vevey, Switzerland with Roussy, whose family held a large block of Nestlé stock. Dapples reorganized Nestlé and those four aforementioned managers were forced to quit. Dapples looked for someone who had overall knowledge and sales experience to run the business with him. Muller was selected and was sent all over Europe to report on the actual situation facing various branches of the Nestlé group.
- I'd rewrite it as:
- At that time, Nestlé had several head offices including London, Paris, Cham, and Vevey, Switzerland. After a reorganization forced managers in four of those locations to quit, Muller was sent all over Europe to report on the actual situation facing various branches of the Nestlé group.
- There seemed to be a lot of stuff there with meaningless names that nobody cares about, which can be removed. ~Anachronist (talk) 03:58, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Note that, from its article, that's Cham, Switzerland, not Cham, Germany. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.193.153.108 (talk) 16:15, 23 September 2025 (UTC)

Animal model of stroke
[edit]How do I check if my writing on this article has similar content to AI? I used a paraphrasing website and QuillBot to check for grammar mistakes and get some sentence-building ideas.
JGThinker2 (talk) 18:11, 25 September 2025 (UTC)
- You shouldn't be doing those things. Pleas write with your own words. Everybody gets stuck on how to phrase things, and that's fine. I write plenty of clumsy sentences, and usually it either gets fixed by another editor or I get an idea a week later on how to better phrase it. Context Is Not Whitewashing
[edit]I just had an edit quickly removed as “unhelpful.” Apparently, what was deemed unhelpful was my attempt to contextualise Hartwig’s membership in the Nazi Party — and my suggestion that it’s not reasonable for this to be the first thing someone reads about the artist on his page.
When someone like Josef Hartwig — a sculptor who created a formalist chess set in 1923 — is reduced to “Nazi Party member” in the opening line of his Wikipedia entry, it’s not history; it’s moral branding. Why is Wikipedia so heavily policed, especially on anything even remotely connected to 20th-century politics, identity, or morality? Its self-appointed guardians appear to uphold a kind of presentist puritanism, particularly on the biographies of artists or thinkers with even the faintest whiff of political taint.
It’s all very ironic. They insist on a “neutral point of view,” but in practice, nuance is flattened and context becomes guilt by association. 125.168.135.116 (talk) 02:27, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- Don't be so quick to cast aspersions. Your edit wasn't labeled "unhelpful", it was simply reverted. And it was reverted likely because that's what many editors do when they see an anonymous IP address blank content without any explanation whatsoever, as you did. Next time use an edit summary. I have partially restored your edit. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 02:55, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- The edit was described as "unconstructive", which it is not unreasonable to interpret as a synonym for "unhelpful". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:25, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- I was referring to the edit summary, which said nothing about being unconstructive or unhelpful. I see now that the reverter left a talk page comment that it "did not appear constructive". I didn't think to look on the talk page because I rarely see IP addresses look at their talk pages. Do they even get a notification? ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 14:11, 26 September 2025 (UTC)

How should time be formated?
[edit]I'm wondering because I have trouble with 24 hour time, my relatives use Military time, and I have friends that translate AM/PM to 24 hour time. Is there a Wikipedia standard for how times should be shown? Is there a format option/tag that allows times to adjust to the preferred option? 1.159.100.130 (talk) 01:28, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- If you create an account, you have user preferences that determine how you want dates and times to look, although the standard format here is UTC, which is 24 hour format. I prefer 24 hour time because it's concise, unambiguous, and understood worldwide except by my fellow Americans who weren't in the military. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 03:40, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Anachronist Some of us Americans can subtract 12 when necessary... /s David10244 (talk) 07:13, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- MOS:TIME does not say that 24 hour time is the standard format, it says "
Context determines whether the 12- or 24-hour clock is used.
" Although I wish it were more specific about what kind of "context" is meant. I guess, like for the choice of MDY or DMY dates, articles about a US subject should use 12 hour times, and articles about non-US subjects should use 24 hour times. CodeTalker (talk) 23:49, 27 September 2025 (UTC)- When I wrote "the standard format here is UTC" I was thinking of the ubiquitous timestamps you see on talk page signatures and contribution histories. I don't recall ever seeing a time written out in an article. I suppose it would follow a similar rule to WP:ERA or WP:ENGVAR. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 01:55, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

- For this issue here, ASFAQ is a poor reference, as it encourages the subject to make changes that contradict cited sources. As a VRT agent I dealt with this in the past; the solution was for the subject to communicate with the editor of the source and get the error corrected or removed. That was done, the factoid was removed from the article, although I had to warn someone against restoring it by citing archive.org instead. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 02:21, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

Talk page conflict post-move
[edit]Ferko v. National Ass'n for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc. was moved to Ferko v. NASCAR per a requested move procedure, but this causes the talk pages to have different contents - ideally, the old talk page (Talk:Ferko v. National Ass'n for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc. should be in the new one (Talk:Ferko v. NASCAR). How this can be solved?

- @CommunityNotesContributor: I see you moved page Ferko v. National Ass'n for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc. to Ferko v. NASCAR over redirect. Was there history at "Ferko v. NASCAR"? Talk:Ferko v. NASCAR mentions the article being accepted through AFC on 13 May 2017. If so a round robin move might have been better. TSventon (talk) 02:01, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- The only prior history there was the creation of a redirect. I have restored that single edit so there is no deleted history for the article. There is some deleted history on the talk page, but it isn't of any consequence; see reply below. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 02:13, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
- @TSventon my bad, I see rmcloser only did half the job for me now. It wasn't able to move the talk page, so just moved the article over redirect and left it at that. Tbh I wasn't aware that was a possibility until seeing it here, usually either works or fails (the latter if it requires a page swap for example), so will pay more attention next time. I would mention this on the script tp, but given it's limited capacity overall I think it'd be asking to much to patch this. Ie, not to perform the move and default to fail if all associated pages can't be moved without elevated permissions - which is what I thought it already did, but evidently not. - rmcloser doesn't integrate page mover rights such as
suppressredirect
ordelete-redirect
, even though it's aware that you have it, so these moves have to be done manually. Ie (closed by non-admin page mover) is applied, but it doesn't mean rmcloser used that right. Equivalent article for an opposing viewpoint
[edit]- What is the Wikipedia policy around having to make an equivalent article for an opposing viewpoint to another article?
Someone said in the Mar-a-lago face talk section something about how they should make an article about “libtards” if they made an article about “mar-a-lago face” and I don’t remember which Wikipolicy is the one that refutes that. You can delete my question once you look at the thing they said and decide whether to respond. The article is in the Did You Know area. I am not trying to give you extra work; if I remembered which policy then I would have responded. Talk:Mar-a-Lago face I am a user, but this is a different device because I was looking at Wikipedia and ran across the thing. 129.64.0.33 (talk) 03:22, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- Also, please try to be nice to them. I think they are upset rather than intentionally something. I don’t know and I am not trying to be rude to them. I made a lot of the same mistakes in my first time on Wikipedia. 129.64.0.33 (talk) 03:27, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

- Hi, IP editor, the most relevant policy is Wikipedia:Notability, which generally requires significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Apparently Mar-a-Lago face is notable and libtard was not, as agreed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Libtard (2nd nomination) in 2018. TSventon (talk) 03:55, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- So, how should I respond? Should I respond? I think they might have been venting rather than being serious. 129.64.0.33 (talk) 04:05, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- Also, while I disagree with them, they do have a point in that the Mar-A-Lago face article is clearly meant as an insult. That is fine, I think, but I understand some part of why they are complaining, unless they are complaining for a different reason.129.64.0.33 (talk) 04:07, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- Basically, where Mar-A-Lago face is compared with gender-affirming care. Because whether it is similar or not, saying that was definitely intended to upset the people who are in the MAGA camp, because one of its facets is hating transgender people. I find comparing it to gender affirming care funny; other people might not. 129.64.0.33 (talk) 04:11, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

[edit]i want to suggest to create a page for a person who is a public figure on google . how can i do that Shalakahn (talk) 16:05, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how anyone can be a public figure on a search engine, but regardless, you first need to read Wikipedia:Notability (people), and then, if you are sure that the necessary independent sourcing can be found, you could try adding their name to the relevant subcategory at Wikipedia:Requested articles. Realistically though, such requests tend to take a considerable time to have any result, if they get taken up at all. This is a volunteer project, and nobody is obliged to write on any particular topic. AndyTheGrump (talk) 16:37, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- I too am curious as to how one can be a public figure on a search engine; that would qualify pretty much every human being a Wikipedia article. 331dot (talk) 18:05, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

- Hello, @Shalakahn. My earnest advice to new editors is to not even think about trying to create an article until you have spent several weeks - at least - learning about how Wikipedia works by making improvements to existing articles. Once you have understood core policies such as verifiability, neutral point of view, reliable, independent sources, and notability, and experienced how we handle disagreements with other editors (the Bold, Revert, Discuss cycle), then you might be ready to read your first article carefully, and try creating a draft. If you don't follow this advice but try to create an article without this preparation, you are likely to have a frustrating and disappointing experience with Wikipedia. ColinFine (talk) 20:25, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- From the evidence presented at User:Shalakahn/sandbox, your subject, Hemant Nandgaonkar, does not yet qualify for an article in Wikipedia. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 19:50, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

- Alan Hale Sr. doesn't mention his education what-so-ever, and so far as I can tell we don't have an article on either of the other two. - Only Alan Hale Sr has a Wikipedia article, but it mentions nothing about where he went to school, so possibly you're referring to a different "Alan Hale Sr" who doesn't have a Wikipedia article, in which case you shouldn't try to add it to the list without confirming that it's the same person. Everett Sloan and Robert Sully don't have Wikipedia articles, so don't try to add them to the list. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 17:39, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

- Everett Sloane (with an e on the end) is memorable in Citizen Kane but I think even more so in The Lady from Shanghai. Our article about him says that he studied at U Penn for two years; but the evidence it provides for this is "Ancestry.com, 1940 United States Federal Census [database on-line]. Provo, UT, US: Ancestry.com Operations Inc., 2012. Retrieved December 30, 2014." Yes: "on-line", retrieved on such-and-such a day, but no URL provided. This is poor. -- Hoary (talk) 22:35, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- I will add Sloane to the list. I can't find anything that says Hale Sr. went to anything other than the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy (Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine? - not associated with the University of Pennsylvania). Robert Sully didn't have a distinguished acting career. Clarityfiend (talk) 22:59, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
- Jéské Couriano, if one has solid evidence that an American attended one US university as an undergrad, I don't think this disproves a claim that they attended a different US university (even as an undergrad). Moving between universities seems commonplace. (Of course having been born in 1961 does disprove a claim of having had a minor role in the undistinguished Love Letters (1945 film).) -- Hoary (talk) 23:53, 29 September 2025 (UTC)

- I have created the account already. But I am yet to receive an email verification mail. Also, I wanted to know how will I get to know that my edit is approved on a page in Wikipedia? Acceldata (talk) 07:20, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Also, I wanted to know if I am eligible for creating a page now. My account shows I have done 11 edits and my account is older than 4 days since I created it. Acceldata (talk) 07:22, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @Acceldata. I see you have managed to create "a page", and it has been moved to Draft space.
- I'm afraid that you are making many of the common mistakes that people often make when they plunge straight into trying to create an article.
- Specifically, your draft is telling what Acceldata wants the world to know. Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is almost exclusively interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. If enough material is cited from independent sources to establish notability, a limited amount of uncontroversial factual information may be added from non-independent sources.
- Finally, there are two things thatyou must do before you do anything more to that draft.
- You must change your username. Usernames that appear to represent an organisation are not permitted. Something like "Fred at Acceldata" would be OK, because it clarifies that the account is personal, as all accounts must be. (You don't have to use your real name). See WP:CHU for changing.
- Since you chose Acceldata as your username, I am assuming you are part of the company. That makes you a paid editor, and you must make a formal declaration of that fact - see the link for how and where.
- It would probably be a good idea for you to read WP:BOSS as well. ColinFine (talk) 13:26, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
Donation
[edit]L.S., I have been donating for some years now € 5,00 monthly via my PayPal account. Probably because my Wikipedia account-id is different ( bfabiet01 ), the match isn't made between the two. So, on my Wikipedia home page it mentions that I have not made any donations yet. Could this be rectified ? Kind Regards, Bruno Fabietti Bfabiet01 (talk) 07:05, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Bfabiet01. Thank you for donating. I'm not sure what you mean by your Wikipedia home page, but there is no connection whatever between any donations you may make to Wikimedia and your account at Wikipedia, so there is nothing to rectify. We have no way of identifying donors. You may be interested to read up on Wikipedia finances. Shantavira|feed me 11:42, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- If you are referring to an automated donation request banner, donation records are not attached to accounts, there is no way to know that you, the person sitting at your computer/holding the device, has donated. You can turn off the donation requests in your account preferences. 331dot (talk) 11:44, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
English version of Swedish article
[edit]Hello Wikipedia
I am very pleased with the Wikipedia article on myself sv:Christian Pleijel. It is, if I may say so myself, truthful and useful, although if I do not see precise statistics.
However, I now have assignments in Finnish-speaking Finland, in Brussels and in Shanghai. It would help me a lot if they could find reliable information on me in English, i.e. on English Wikipedia. Is this possible and if so, how?
Kind regards, Christian Pleijel Christian Pleijel (talk) 07:16, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi there, please see WP:COI. It is generally discouraged to create or edit articles about yourself or people/organizations you are closely linked with. You can see WP:My first article for help creating an article here; in your situation, I'd recommend going through the WP:AfC process, where you submit an article as a draft, and an experienced editor reviews it. This ensures that any potential biases are weeded out. In general, you must meet the English Wikipedia's general notability guidelines. Every language version has different guidelines on notability, so don't assume that an article on Swedish Wikipedia means it is also notable here. You will need reliable, secondary sources covering you. Welcome to the English Wikipedia! jolielover♥talk 08:03, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- I would also note that Wikipedia is not for "finding reliable information". We don't claim the information presented is reliable, see Wikipedia:General disclaimer. It's up to readers to examine the sources provided and evaluate them. 331dot (talk) 09:47, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
Editing an Article
[edit]Hello, I have been working on some articles for a while now. Some of them I was paid for. Unfortunately lately I got into an online debate on the fact that I was not disclosing it properly on my user page and my editing abilities were blocked. I have tried time after time to correct my ways according to what I was told was needed but was refused. At the moment I'm struggling since I still want to make some changes to an existing article that I have been working on. I was advised to write a requests for other editors to make these changes for me and did so on the article's talk page and on personal messages as well to different editors. I get complete ignore - so at this point I'm completely stuck! you can see my article and requests here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ran_Balicer any advice or help will be extremely appreciated. MrEksh (talk) 09:47, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- @MrEksh My advice is to continue this discussion at Talk:Ran Balicer so that the discussion is all in one place. You have been given plenty of sound advice there. This is a collaborative project and you are expected to work with other editors to achieve consensus. Shantavira|feed me 12:53, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- As a paid editor, you should be proposing changes via edit requests on talk pages, not trying to edit articles yourself. Category:Wikipedia conflict of interest edit requests has a pretty large backlog, and editors generally like to spend their time improving Wikipedia rather than doing unpaid work in behalf of someone getting paid for it.
- Also, if your requests are complex rewrites rather than simple incremental changes, editors would likely go for the simpler ones. I have declined your edit request partly for that reason, but mostly because your rewrite was wholly unsourced. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 17:50, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
Searching a gadget
[edit]Hi everyone,
I am trying to find a gadget that shows both "edit" and "edit source" buttons in the top bar. I don't want only one "edit" or "edit source" button depending on my last edit activity. Is there such a gadget? Karacehennem (talk) 15:49, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Karacehennem: It's not a gadget but "Editing mode" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing includes "Show me both editor tabs". User:PrimeHunter 16:55, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
Template not displaying
[edit]I added Template:User distributed proofreaders to my user page (okrick); however, it does not appear in Category:Wikipedians who contribute to Distributed Proofreaders, . In addition, the badge itself does not display on my user page, whereas the Internet Archive badge did appear correctly when I applied the same format. Could you please let me know if the template is not functioning properly, or if I may have implemented it incorrectly? Okrick (talk) 23:11, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Okrick, you have attempted to add templates to your user page, but the fact that they display in red (as does "User distributed proofreaders" above) shows that they don't exist. Little wonder that a non-existent template doesn't do anything. A look at somebody else's user page suggests to me that what you need is

. -- Hoary (talk) 00:10, 1 October 2025 (UTC) - That template was moved to User:Scepia/Distributed Proofreaders in 2007, and the redirect was deleted. I have fixed the transclusion on your user page. jlwoodwa (talk) 00:11, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- And I have tampered with the heading for this thread. Attempting to transclude a template within a heading isn't a good idea. -- Hoary (talk) 00:16, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

- In addition to the mobile app, we have both a desktop and mobile version for browsers. The bottom of pages has a link to switch between them. Changing User Name
[edit]My account is Coletex, How do I change it to my name, Bradley C Meisenburg? Coletex (talk) 03:00, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- As Coletex, you have very little to your credit. (You have made just one, minor edit to an article: this.) So forget about the username "Coletex", and simply log in and edit as Bradley C Meisenburg (an account created just today, presumably by you). -- Hoary (talk) 07:59, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
Ted Kaczyński
[edit]- Uh there is a problem with something!
At Ted Kaczyński's page his name is pronounced wrong. It's not prounanced Khezynski I think it would be better to change it. It's prounanced kaʈ͡ʂɨj̃skʲi according to IPA 83.8.99.58 (talk) 17:47, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, IP user. I have no doubt that that is how the name would be pronounced (and spelled) in Polish. Many Americans of foreign origin pronounce their names in an anglicized way, not according to the conventions of the original languages. How do you know how Kaczynski pronounced it?
- In any case, the talk page Talk: Ted Kaczynski is the best place to discuss this, and indeed searching the archives for that talk page I see the matter has been discussed four times before, though I haven't looked to see what people said about it. ColinFine (talk) 18:06, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
Why Wikipedia have sexual/porno explicit content (videos, pictures, etc.)?

- Absolutely not. That is the policy: Wikipedia is not censored. The images are relevant to the content of the articles. There is much content here that would be considered offensive to some. Me and my children aren't offended, you and yours might be, but if Wikipedia tried to submit to everyone's sensitivities, then there's nothing left. ~Anachronist (who / me) (talk) 20:02, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- It is not. If it's relevant to the subject, there may be pics of naked people, dead people, acts of violence etc. Consider Help:Options to hide an image. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:02, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

Area codes
[edit]For 2.5 years I've been updating area codes. Is there a bot to do it? Write xx̌z once then checks every info box that has xxx as ÀÇ and updates it? DMc75771 (talk) 21:04, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- @DMc75771: Please give a real example of what you want. User:PrimeHunter 21:28, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- I go to the City of Lindale, Texas and click on ÀC 903 and discover 903 has an overĺàÿ number of 430. I then manually update. This is just an example. DMc75771 (talk) 22:13, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- @DMc75771: I cannot make sense of your example. Your only relevant edit to Lindale, Texas is [2] but it was unlinked before, it already said both 903 and 430, and you made a red link instead of linking Area codes 903 and 430. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:49, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

- I asked for a real example and still don't know which type of edit you want. I give up trying to help. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:31, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- Special:Diff/1314511044 looks typical, I think? If what you want is a bot that looks for links to Area code 707 and make sure it's linked as 707, 369 wherever it appears, then you'd need a new one. WP:BOTREQ is the place to ask. You'll have to describe the task a lot more clearly than you've done here. (If you just want it to translate 707 to 707, it'll get rejected for sure; see WP:NOTBROKEN.)Somewhat lighter-weight, there's ways to make them easier to find. Help:Link color#Styling all links just for you (and in particular, its subheading Help:Link color#Redirect) will let you recolor links to redirects, so they stand out more when you actually go to a page. And quarry:query/97651 has a list of all articles linking to one of these redirects, though there's unfortunately no way to limit it to links specifically from infoboxes, nor to see what the displayed text is. —Cryptic 00:07, 2 October 2025 (UTC)

Cannot remove inaccurate category on aricle
[edit]On article To Be Hero X i tried to remove a inaccurate category but while the edit was saved the category is still there i tried removing 2025 anime television series debuts because the article is about a donghua not anime Isla🏳️⚧ 22:31, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, @Isla.
- This is because the category is automatically added by Template:infobox animanga/Video if the first date is in the current year and before now. It looks as if the template was written assuming it would be used only for anime.
- That part of the category name (and other similar categories) is hard-coded.
- I suspect the answer is either to make a duplicate set of infobox templates for donghua, or to parametrise the type.
- I suggest you bring this up at Template talk:infobox animanga, and (as suggested at the top of that page) leave a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga pointing to your discussion. ColinFine (talk) 22:57, 1 October 2025 (UTC)

- Hello, IP user. If you want to suggest a change to an article, the place to do so is on the talk page, here Talk:Ku Klux Klan.
- But, as it says at the top of that talk page, please search its archives first, because you'll find previous discussions of this question. (My understanding, as a non-US person with limited knowledge of US history, is that at that time the Republicans were the party of black emancipation). ColinFine (talk) 23:03, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- The statement about overthrowing Republicans is about the 1860's in the South where the parties were different from today. There is no contradiction in the given context. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:06, 1 October 2025 (UTC)
- Even beyond slavery, the Republicans held views on many topics in the 1860s which are entirely incompatible with those expressed today. For example:
That the Republican party is opposed to any change in our naturalization laws or any state legislation by which the rights of citizens hitherto accorded to immigrants from foreign lands shall be abridged or impaired; and in favor of giving a full and efficient protection to the rights of all classes of citizens, whether native or naturalized, both at home and abroad.
