More about Mina.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier talked to Mina the Hollower’s development team about the game’s recent delay. The game’s director showed Schreier examples of things the team is polishing before release, like making an exit easier to spot. It’s fascinating stuff and a good look at what a delay really means.

Elgato has created a cheaper Herman Miller-like gaming chair.

Embrace looks like Elgato’s answer to Herman Miller’s Embody gaming chair. It has a five-step recline with adjustable tilt tension, a headrest, a mesh back, lumbar support, and arm rests that move up, down, forward, back, in, and out. It will be priced at $499.99, and Elgato is aiming to ship Embrace before the Christmas holiday period.

The iPhone is now an Altered Item.

Remedy’s Control is the next console blockbuster making the transition to mobile. It’s coming to the iPhone and iPad, as well as the Apple Vision Pro. The ports won’t launch until early next year, so you have plenty of time to read my Remedy profile in the meantime.

Blackbird to Sackbird.

Former ZeniMax Online Studios developers who worked on promising but now-canceled Project Blackbird MMO and The Elder Scrolls Online have started a new studio, Sackbird Studios. “With no outside investors and full creative control, the team is focused on building great games — on their own terms,” Sackbird says.

The studio behind Hyper Light Breaker is laying off staff.

Heart Machine is also tying up work on the game, which launched in early access earlier this year but received some mixed reviews. “This was not our ideal path, but rather the only one available given the circumstances,” Heart Machine says.

“You are a demon in the Underworld, made out of glass and pain.”

I mean, of course I’m going to play a skateboarding game with that description. But the new Skate Story trailer has sold me even further. Thankfully I don’t have to wait too long to play: it launches on December 8th.

A fun oddity for Switch Online subscribers.

Ubisoft reportedly cancelled an Assassin’s Creed game set during and after the Civil War.

In this Reconstruction-era Assassin’s Creed, gamers would play as a Black man who had been formerly enslaved in the South and moved west to start a new life. Recruited by the series’ Assassins, he would return to the South to fight for justice in a conflict that would, among other things, see him confront the emergence of the Ku Klux Klan.

Hey look, an AMD 9070 finally hit its promised $549.

Does a sale count? Either way, seven months later, Newegg is finally selling an entry-level RX 9070 at MSRP rather than scalping it. Guess it wasn’t “launch-only pricing” after all.

(In case you’re wondering why I call it “scalping,” I did a dive into changing sticker prices back in April.)

Fortnite doesn’t like when creators cheat, either.

Following recent legal action against a cheater and a person who carried out DDoS attacks, Epic Games said today it has taken legal action against two developers of player-made Fortnite experiences. The developers created bots to inflate player counts so they could get higher payouts, according to Epic’s complaint.

What is Nintendo up to?

The company just released a four-minute-long animated short called “Close To You,” about a small baby and possibly a sentient soother. But it’s unclear right now what the short is for, or if it’s teasing something bigger from Nintendo.

A Mina delay.

Mina the Hollower, the next big game from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games, will miss its planned October 31st launch. “This isn’t a major delay, it’s just a stretch of time to apply some final polish and balancing to make the game truly shine,” the team says.
