Your WikiCup submissions: two FLCRs

[edit]

Hi OlifanofmrTennant, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/1960 Winter Olympics medal table/archive1 and Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Magnum P.I. (2018 TV series) episodes/archive1 for FLCR points in the WikiCup. Unfortunately, neither of these submissions are currently long enough to qualify for points. I know this can be disappointing. In the future, I'd keep in mind that per Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring, high-quality reviews generally contain at least 4-5 pieces or 100 words of substantial feedback, or if that is not possible, a summary paragraph describing how the article already meets the FLC criteria. Hi OlifanofmrTennant, I've now finished my copy-edit. I think this article needs more work before it is nominated for GA status. I agree with your comment at REQ about the article's fictional biography section being long-winded so I've marked it as {{fancruft}}. I have somewhat reduced the verbiage and fixed the incorrect verb tenses (In Wikipedia, fictional happenings are described in the present tense, not the past tense), but summarising is not generally part of a copy-editor's task. Good luck with the article. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 22:26, 3 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter

[edit]

The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.

Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. WIkiProject Doctor Who: March 2025 Newsletter

[edit]
The Space-Time Telegraph
Volume III, Issue I — March 2025
Brought to you by the editors of WikiProject Doctor Who

One hell of a newsletter.
Geronimoooo!
Apparently this newsletter the queen of outer space... wait... no, sorry; that's Belinda! Swashbuckle your seatbelts because this newsletter is full of information regarding recent happenings in the Doctor Who WikiProject. You'll also find updates on the upcoming series and elsewhere the expanded Whoniverse.

Series 15

The fifteenth series of Doctor Who is set to begin this Saturday with "The Robot Revolution" on 12 April and will conclude eight weeks later after "The Reality War" airs on 31 May. It will once again be accompanied by a new series of Doctor Who: Unleashed. Draft articles for all eight episodes have already been created, the links to which can be found here. New novelisations adapting the first three episodes of the series are set to be released on 10 July.

Recent Article Regenerations

Since the last Newsletter, we've had a whole heap of quality content added to the Project. The articles Thasmin, "Joy to the World", Vislor Turlough, "Space Babies", "Legend of the Sea Devils", Weeping Angel, Doctor Who series 13, Pyramids of Mars, "The Legend of Ruby Sunday", "The Power of the Doctor", The Twin Dilemma, "The Husbands of River Song", "Demons of the Punjab", Doctor Who Live, "The Return of Doctor Mysterio", and Attack of the Cybermen have all been improved to GA-level quality. List of Torchwood episodes and List of Doctor Who episodes (2005-present) have been improved to FL-level quality, while the Doctor Who specials (2022) and Doctor Who series 14 Good Topics have been successfully promoted.
An additional good topic covering the series articles from 2005–present has been nominated and is currently receiving feedback. Though content creation has slowed in recent months, content improvement should hopefully see an increase as series 15 ticks ever closer.

Future Project Goals

The WikiProject will once again be working in collaboration to complete a Good Topic encompassing the series and its related articles. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated. Several editors have planned upcoming work for Doctor Who-related character, episode, and performer articles. More information, as well as where you can find out how to help, can be found it at Wikipedia:WikiProject Doctor Who/Goals.

We Want You... To Help With The Newsletter

Due to the departure of previous newsletter contributors, the Newsletter is beaming out a message from Stonehenge requesting your help. If anyone would like to help actively contribute to the Newsletter's content updates, please let us know, as we are willing to accept anyone who is interested in helping with writing the Newsletter. We'll all stories in the end... make sure the newsletter is a chapter in yours.

WikiCup 2025 May newsletter

[edit]

The second round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 28 April at 23:59 UTC. To reiterate what we said in the previous newsletter, we are no longer disqualifying contestants based on how many points (now known as round points) they received. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. These tournament points are carried over between rounds, and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers at the end of each round. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far. Everyone who competed in round 2 will advance to round 3 unless they have withdrawn or been banned.

Round 2 was quite competitive. Four contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and eight scored more than 500 points (including one who has withdrawn). The following competitors scored at least 800 points:

In addition, we would like to recognize Generalissima (submissions) for her efforts; she scored 801 round points but withdrew before the end of the round.

The full scores for round 2 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 13 featured articles, 20 featured lists, 4 featured-topic articles, 138 good articles, 7 good-topic articles, and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 19 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 300 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 April but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed in Round 3. David Tennant Filmography

[edit]

I sent a quick message over on DC, but just in case you haven't seen it yet, here's a list of glaringly obvious things I noticed with this list:

  1. The short description could be dialed in slightly
  2. The image has a fixed PX size, and no alt text
  3. It needs a lead expansion
  4. No table captions
  5. Unsourced works
  6. Some missing works (Doctor Who Confidential and Doctor Who: Unleashed came to me)
  7. Some duplicate references
  8. Reference formatting issues (dates, titles, inconsistency, etc.)
  9. We should be able to use this as a rough framework/to do list

I don't think this should be too hard for us to knock out. TheDoctorWho (talk) 17:42, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I didn’t see that message my discord was stolen a while back and I haven’t bothered to make a new one. All of these problems check out although there is another being for several of the earlier tv roles the isn’t great sourcing out there Olliefant (she/her) 19:18, 12 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, makes sense. And noted, I hadn't gotten a chance to look over the quality of sources. I've also never brought a filmography to FLC before, so I don't know how specific the sources need to be. For example, this verifies that Tennant was cast in Ark, but not who he played and not that he was in three episodes. TheDoctorWho (talk) 05:02, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
From my experience in Filmography FLCs all you need is something to confirm they were in the thing. The role falls under MOS:PLOTCITE Olliefant (she/her) 06:00, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WIkiProject Doctor Who: June 2025 Newsletter

[edit]
The Space-Time Telegraph
Volume III, Issue II — June 2025
Brought to you by the editors of WikiProject Doctor Who

People assume that a newsletters are a strict progression of stuff happening to author's writing,
but, actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of spacey-timey teley-graphy... stuff
This is my Space-Time Telegraph Detector: 🕹️
It goes *ding* when there's a new newsletter out
Welcome to the second 2025 issue of the Space-Time Telegraph. Apologies that we're a little late, sometimes this newsletter takes us when we need to go instead of when we want to go. In this edition you'll find everything that you need to keep you updated on things going on around the project as well as within the Whoniverse.

Am I a good (or featured) man Wikipedia article?

Since last Newsletter, many new GAs have been added to the Project. These include every individual episode in Doctor Who series 15 and a number of fictional characters, including Belinda Chandra, the companion of Series 15. A full list of Good promoted content can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Doctor Who#Articles with Good Article status. So far, we've promoted 33 GAs this year, and we're on track to beat our previous record of GAs promoted in a year (36 in 2012).
In terms of Good Topics, Wikipedia:Featured topics/List of Doctor Who episodes (2005–present) and Wikipedia:Good topics/Doctor Who series 14 were both promoted in May.
Additionally, with the promotion of Yeti (Doctor Who) to FA status just this past month, the project has gotten its first FA status article in nearly a decade, with the last FA promotion being From The Doctor to my son Thomas in November 2015.
Congratulations to all involved with these articles, and keep up the good work!

Space-Time Telegraph Materialization Schedule

With uncertainty surrounding when production of the parent show will resume, newsletter editors have decided to shift the publication schedule from quarterly to triannually for the time being. This means that the next issue will be published in December, and then every April, August, and December thereafter. When the future of the series is more certain, the schedule may update once more at that time.

Their songs have ended... but their stories, never end 🌹

Since the previous issue was published, some people related to Doctor Who have sadly passed away:
Intelligence Bulletin from the Subwave Network
  • The War Between the Land and the Sea, an upcoming Doctor Who spin-off released its first trailer at the conclusion of series 15. The 5-part mini-series is expected to be broadcast later this year. The BBC has also commissioned an animated Doctor Who spin-off series targeted towards younger audiences. The 52-part programme is set to air in two parts of 26-episodes each between 2027 and 2029.
  • In home media, the fifteenth series will be released on DVD, Blu-ray, and Steelbook in August. The Peter Cushing spin-off films, Dr Who And The Daleks and Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D., were recently colourised and re-released in June/July in 4K, along with new special features. Season 13 will be the next season to receive release in "The Collection" format, featuring remastered episodes and new special features.
  • In print, three new Doctor Who novels, written by Emily Cook, Hannah Fergesen, Kalynn Byron came out in May. Another, authored by Esmie Jikiemi-Pearson is due out in November. Dan Watters and Sami Kivelä are also collaborating on a new series featuring for Titan Coomics. Finally, Pete McTighe and Carole Ann Ford are authoring new shorts to expand on previously unseen stories to be released in August and November in larger collections.
  • Big Finish Productions have released several new Who-related audio dramas, and announced many more set to enter production soon. An audio vinyl release of The Moonbase, of which two episodes are missing, is expected to be out in September.
  • New action figure sets taking on the appearance of Fourteenth Doctor and the Meep became available in June. Mattel also collaborated with the BBC to create Barbie dolls taking on the appearance of the Fifteenth Doctor and Belinda, first making their appearance in May at MCM Comic Con. Doctor Who will also once again have a presence at the 2025 San Diego Comic Con, featuring photo-ops and other new exclusive products.

WikiCup 2025 September newsletter

[edit]

The fourth round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 29 August. The penultimate round saw three contestants score more than 800 points:

Everyone who competed in Round 4 will advance to Round 5 unless they have withdrawn. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far, while the full scores for Round 4 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 9 featured articles, 12 featured lists, 98 good articles, 9 good topic articles, more than 150 reviews, nearly 100 did you know articles, and 18 in the news articles.

In advance of the fifth and final round, the judges would like to thank every contestant for their hard work. As a reminder, any content promoted after 29 August but before the start of Round 5 can be claimed in Round 5. In addition, note that Round 5 will end on 31 October at 23:59 UTC. Awards at the end of Round 5 will be distributed based on who has the most tournament points over all five rounds, and special awards will be distributed based on high performance in particular areas of content creation (e.g., most featured articles in a single round).

Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges – Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), Frostly (talk · contribs), Guerillero (talk · contribs) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs) – are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck!

Heyo, was just curious if you were still working on the draft in question. In my personal opinion, I think it's ready for mainspace but was just curious if maybe you forgot to move it or just altogether. Cheers, Klinetalkcontribs 16:15, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it sorta fell to the wayside in favor of other projects. I think it's pretty much main space worthy just needs a little more on the Lt. Governor's race. I planned to send it to DYK, I wanted to add more content to send it to FLC. If you wanna finish the Lt Governor section I'd be happy to co nom it for DYK Olliefant (she/her) 16:35, 13 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:USERPAGE, but just know you should probably have some edits to you name before creating a userpage, as most editors typically look down on accounts with low edits having a user page as a WP:NOTWEBHOST violation Olliefant (she/her) 21:32, 2 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
