Personal attacks

[edit]

Hello, I had a question to ask you, I've noticed that you recently banned a sock puppet hours ago.. they can't stop tagging me in their talk pages. I have reverted their messages so many times and yet they didn't stop. the whole message is about personal attacks. thoughts on how to proceed? R3YBOl (🌲) 13:02, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've pulled TPA from that account and a recent sock. Let me know if more pop up. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:16, 14 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

John Rutter 80 today! I sang his major choral works with four choirs, and many of his uplifting anthems, 13 DYK? I watched him explain his Magnificat in person in 1998, and now see it on Youtube: he wore the same outfit. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:05, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Adminship Anniversary!

Admin attention: Lead section edits repeated by new user; WP:LEAD/MOS issue

[edit]

Hello, Thank you for extending the protection on Premchand Roychand.

Could you please take a look at the lead section of the Premchand Roychand article? It currently mentions the sect/caste, which is redundant per WP:LEAD and MOS. and was not reverted before the lock. Could you please review the page?

Thank you for your time. Starry Pine (talk) 14:43, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:WRONGVERSION. I have no opinion on the article lead. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:39, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Why?

[edit]

You removed my contribution to the "Killing of Iryna Zarutska" article?

Is there a better way of framing this? I'd like to nominate the article for deletion, thanks 1.145.171.188 (talk) 22:28, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Killing of Iryna Zarutska. This was recently discussed at length. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 22:30, 23 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I noticed your reversion of a recent DOB edit by @Fortuneteller7 for BLP issues. The editor had cited Companies House. I wondered what the BLP issue was? Thanks Lukewarmbeer (talk) 17:00, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Lukewarmbeer, Companies House is a primary source, and WP:BLPPRIMARY is clear Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth. Additionally, WP:DOB says Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been published by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public or have been widely published by reliable sources. Either they need to publish their DOB or it needs to be widely published in high quality reliable secondary sources. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:32, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Noting that this has been discussed many times at WP:RSN (here is a recent example). It should probably be added to WP:RSP given how often it comes up.-- Ponyobons mots 17:30, 24 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for the replies. It makes no sense to me.
This does seem to make sense and seems to conflict but there we go.
"A primary source may be used on Wikipedia only to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source but without further, specialized knowledge".
Thanks again though. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 08:41, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Primary sources can be used carefully in some situations, but not used for certain statements about BLPs. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 10:51, 25 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey,

On 19:22, 22 September 2025 the user added Category:Israeli soldiers to more than a dozen articles about individuals who are not soldiers. Since some of these pages are PIA, I cannot undo the edits or even open a talk discussion, so I’m reporting this matter to you. IdanST (talk) 12:54, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you ignore it and leave it for others to raise objections if they wish. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:14, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, it's me! I only added it to pages of soldiers or former soldiers. If someone was a soldier, they fall under that category. to my knowledge, there isn't a category of former soldiers. Category:United States Army officers has plenty of people whose main notability isn't their army service. Wisenerd (talk) 04:28, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps a better example would be Category:United States Army soldiers. Tell me which pages need to be moved from Category:Israeli soldiers to Category:Israeli military officers and I will gladly migrate them. I do a lot of categorization editing as a data researcher because I know it makes it easier for other researchers to find pages. Wisenerd (talk) 04:35, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I see you had some Jinnifer dealings earlier. They continue under User:Cuilt de Juyok. NJZombie (talk) 18:10, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

All set, thanks. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:13, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Did you get the death threat e-mailed to you via the Catalan Wikipedia? NJZombie (talk) 18:32, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, not yet at least. If I knew how to get steward help I'd give you a hand getting that taken care of. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:36, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They aimed it at me, you, and MrOllie. I contacted legal@wikimedia.org. NJZombie (talk) 18:45, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
emergency@ is the address for threats of harm, but I think it'll all eventually make it to the same place. They're pretty worked up because I blocked a couple of their longer-term socks earlier today. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:46, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Babysharkboss2

[edit]

Hi ScottishFinnishRadish, with the expectation of them removing Twinkle and becoming less active in recent changes patrolling, would you too be fine with an unblock of Babysharkboss2 (talk · contribs)? ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:40, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

My concern isn't twinkle use, it's trolling vandals and unconstructive editors which leads to edit warring with vandals and compounding disruption. In fact, using the default twinkle rollbacks would actually be better than what they're doing. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:30, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
(nods) Thanks! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:07, 29 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Apology

ScottishFinnishRadio was writing something about babyshark2, posted it but thought better of it, should have done a better job cleaning it up. Jp33442 (talk) 00:41, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Soviet Cabal"

[edit]

Hey there, there's some weird activity going on at Aptakisic-Tripp Community Consolidated School District 102 that doesn't feel quite right to go to ANI for. However, I noticed that the involved editors are all part of a purported Soviet Cabal. You were the admin who blocked the founder/leader of this supposed "cabal" for socking, and also blocked but later unblocked one of the editors involved in the weird activity. I didn't want to raise this at ANI or request a sock investigation formally because I'm not sure there's something that's violating the letter of the 'law' here, but it sure feels like it violates the spirit as some weird WP:MEATPUPPETRY or just a 'gang' of editors having fun rather than improving the project. I just thought someone who might have a better idea of what's going should take a look. Thanks, estar8806 (talk) 17:28, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing it's a group of students. As long as it doesn't get disruptive there's not really a problem with it. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:32, 30 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Interested in Arbcom?

[edit]

I've never been one to write an informative and well considered essay about something, but if any talk page watchers, prospective candidates, or anyone else has a question about Arbcom, how it works, if they'd be a fit, and what is required I'd be more than happy to answer. Feel free to email if you'd prefer to keep your question or interest in standing as a candidate private. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:09, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
